No One Lives - Most under rated suspense/horror of the year

If you tired and let down with all the over hyped, big budget crap lately and want something totally refreshing this is the ticket. And if it weren't for Directv on Demand I would have never known about this movie.

This one had me riveted and eyes wide open the whole way through. Good direction, plot, script, and strong performances from the whole cast with the Luke Evans as the lead man. It made Cabin In the Woods seem like a freakin joke.

Luke Evans is "the man" without a doubt one of the most under rated guys working today. A lot of folks including myself don't know much about this guy except that he played Zeus in The Immortals which I thought was pretty memorable. And he was the menacing bad dude in Fast 6. The guy has immense talent and enjoyed everything he's done so far. He's def got my attention now.

If you haven't seen this, by all means rent it, buy it , DL it what ever it's a must see...you're welcome.

Ok don't mean to relish and harp on about this but I really, really like this guy Luke Evans. The last time I felt this strong about someone was when I 1st saw C Bale in Equilibrium. It blew me away and knew right away he had huge upside potential.

But here's the thing I'm worried about. Luke is very loyal to his art and I think he's taking the Sean Penn approach to choosing roles as he's NOT going to sell himself out just for the money so I won't get to see him out there in too many big budget films. He's just content with a supporting non leading man role but hope his agent or those close to him will change his mind and put himself out there more. A talent like this is so far few in between it's a damn shame not to make the most of it.

Cabin in the Woods was a joke, or more accurately, a comedy.

That's why I loved it...it was a well-done horror spoof (not like the unending spawns of the "Scary Movie" franchise)

Oh you're very welcome sir but I just want to give you heads up that this is so far from To the Wonder & Mud that Mrs Oink might be gross out.

Just saw this and agree with you about Evans. The guy has a lot of presence with the looks of a masculine Orlando Bloom.

Another secret to a happy marriage from Brother Oink! Mrs. Archi doesn't make me watch 'Say Yes to the Dress', thank Gawd. tongue.gif And I don't force her to watch 'Breaking Bad'. Harmony reigns!

I don't get it, why is everyone holding out until Oct. Just get a Dvd off ebay for $5-10, this is something well worth owning in your collection.

I think (?) the answer is in the title of the thread: OCTOBER.

FWIW, I can't wait that long and watch flicks as they come up...redface.gif

Watched this last night and barely made it through the whole thing as I wanted to shut it off a few different times, but stuck it out until the end. This film simply did nothing for me as I just did not care about ANY of the characters, found the plot line dull and uninteresting, etc.... Acting was good I suppose, but when the rest holds no interest it does not mean much. Oh well, at least it was only a rental. smile.gif A/V was nothing worth noting either.

Pretty much my reaction.

It's not a bad movie at all..."competent" is the word I would use.
However, there is nothing original here; I was really looking for something with a little more creativity.
Once the setup of the plot is revealed early on, this is a by-the-numbers serial murderer movie.

For fans of the sub-genre, I would recommend it as a rental.
For the rest of us, it's rather meh and nothing I will re-visit.
Of course, YMMV.wink.gif

^^^That's kind of what I figured. The 34% audience approval on Rotten Tomatoes make me delete it from my queue. I'm a big believer is statistical meta-data, and there are only so many entertainment hours available.

I can only lead the horses to water, what they do with it once they get there is out of my hands. But based on the extreme reactions this is a movie you're going to either dig the heck out of it like I did or just don't care for it like Mr Oink.

But based on your track record I would say you're going to dig it this one. I mean you don't have at least 35 min out of the day to risk an amazing original horror film?

Are you really serious about not caring about ANY of the characters?..not even the lead guy Luke Evans...That just blows my mind I can't even fathom that.

Insidious 2 just did 34% over the weekend at RT so does that mean you're going to skip it too?

Who knows? That's the beauty of meta-data, gathered over a period of months or years. If by the time Insidious 2 is ready for shiny disk release it still has an audience approval rating of 34% or less, then yes - I'll skip it. Plenty of other, better stuff out there to watch and, as I said above, there are only so many entertainment hours available in a given week.

Yes, I am serious. smile.gif And don't call me Shirly.....wait wrong movie. biggrin.gif Sorry Zoey, this movie just did NOTHING for me. Luke Evans gave a fine acting performance, but again, I just felt nothing for the character he played in this film. The movie felt very B quality to me and was just flat out dull all around IMO. Movies are incredibly subjective like any form of art, so not sure why this is so surprising.

RT has no bearing on what I personally choose to watch. Looking forward to Insidious 2 as I enjoyed the first.

Zoey, are you confusing the actor WITH the character he played?confused.gif
The CHARACTER Luke Evans plays is a serial murderer who likes to torture females...in particular.eek.gif
