I was thinking the Sony was a good deal based on the fact that it is going for over [EDIT: sorry, that should read "$2500"] used on Amazon right now.

In terms of upkeep, the Sony lamp is about 2/3 less. Quality wise, I still prefer made in Japan vs. China. The JVC's new remote is cheap looking. You can watch the JVC during the day, but not the Sony.
BTW, I did not buy the JVC for its 3D feature; could not care less.
Now that is what I was hoping to hear. Given you owned one, dragonbud, is there anything I should look for in particular if I go to check it out?
