Dilemma in selecting subs - Page 2

Those mains are 3-way speakers meaning they do have a woofer in them. Also forget about the 500Hz crossover; that is the crossover between the woofer and midrange driver on the speaker itself. For an HT setup you don't need 3-way speakers or else spending thousands of dollars on a dedicated subwoofer is useless. You will lose more and gain less. Do a bit of reading on 2-way and 3-way speakers. The crossover I am talking about is between your subwoofer and your mains that is part of the bass management performed in the AVR.

You should only be concerned about mains and to some extent the center channel for blending with the sub.

hi braveheart123, sure. from all that explanations, looks like it will really be an advantage when my living room comes to reality. for the mains and surround, i am already using them, just that i have not really use a sub. smile.gif

so since i am already using them and to move them to my living room in future, apart from the distance from wall, the sub to get it later, do i need to focus on any other things?rolleyes.gif
