AVR1700 ARC Problem

I have a Panasonic 50" (TC-P50UT50) with ARC capability through HDMI 2 connected to my AVR 1700.

The TV detects the AVR1700 and the AVR is on TV mode and shows ARC on the screen. But no sound is coming out of the speakers. What am i doing wrong?

I have read articles talking about CEC. But i am not 100% certain what that means. Is this required to make ARC work?

HDMI-CEC is known by different names depending on the mfr ... for Panasonic .. it's called "VierraLink" .. for your HK .. likely just HDMI Control. It must be enabled on both devices. Ensure the Panny is also set to pass audio to "External speakers" or "Home Theater".

thanks for the reply

yes the panasonic detects the avr through vierralink and shows the output is changed to home theater

and the hk has a setting called hdmi link set to on.

but my problem is when i turn on the tv, then turn on the hk, the tv automatically detects the hk and changes the audio to the arc but no sound comes out of the speakers and i am confused why. spent hours last night and could not figure it out

HDMI (ARC) often causes more problems then it's worth ... you may be better served just connecting an optical cable from the tV to the HK as most ARC implementations are limited to only stereo audio while the optical can pass DD 5.1 from Netflix and those other sources that have DD 5.1 audio.

Yeah, i also noticed that when ARC was active it only showed 2-channel on the hk

I am thinking about optical now also if it is only 2-channel
