Sleepy Hollow on Fox

From watching the commercials for this upcoming (fall) show, what are your predictions on how long it will last? The premise just seems to far-fetched, I have a hard time seeing it going for too long. Who knows though. Maybe they'll surprise us though.

Anyone watch the first episode? I really liked it, this could be really really good, fingers crossed.
Watched it and it's a hot mess!
Good: Clancy Brown, Orlando Jones, Len Wiseman, Nicole Beharie
Bad: Clancy Brown too early. Really Witches as guardians vs the Devil? (sill see how they go with this)

If it catches on ill be surprised but since its fox i dont expect it to last one season.

Overall ill watch it.

I liked it.
It was a lot more campy than I thought it would be and I mean that in a good way. I'll stick with it, but not expecting it to last.

It just couldn't hold my attention - way too out in left field. I'll watch the next couple of episodes, but I'm betting this is a one and done show.

I'm with you but I don't know if that is because I was sleepy, bored or there are just too many shows like this. I'll give it another show or two before the final decision.

I enjoyed it for what it was. Sort of a pre-Halloween primer. It's certainly a helluva lot better out of the gate than Dumb (er, I mean Dome) is.
I liked it. Better than I expected. Will it last? Only time will tell.
I enjoyed this show. Wish Clancy Brown wasn't killed off so quickly. I like him. Otherwise, looking forward to more episodes.

Saw it, liked it. And like most, wonder how long they can keep this premise up..

"I didn't know Clancy Brown was in this. This could be better than I thought."

"Oh."

Competently made pilot from Mr Kate Beckinsale and some good FX but not a single original idea in sight. In fact there were so many tropes and cliches being rolled out every few minutes my eyes could barely keep still. From the female detective with a spooky childhood experience, to the good and evil secret organizations, to the unsubtle exposition detailing all the places the show can set future episodes.

I might watch this for a few episodes until the fish out of water gags dry up, but unless the show does something genuinely interesting (like having Crane be unstuck in time and dragging the deputy back to the 1800's at random points for adventures) the only place this show can go is direct to Friday nights on the Cancellation Express, dragging a coach load of cliches behind it.

Really? They show actually stated that weird things are happening all over the country and listed specific places for the Sleepy Duo to investigate. Not to mention the season preview had a voiceover saying "Before the horsemen can ride they must first unleash an army of evil monsters of the week ..."

You mean Death? Not sure they said the Devil in this episode.

They had Tim Curry strolling about in his Legend makeup, if he isn't the Devil himself he is definitely an employee.

It reminded me of a slightly more adult and violent version of "Once Upon a Time".

I will tune in for another episode or two, just to see how they lay out the show dynamics, but I'm pretty skeptical of the long term sustainability of this show.

They said that was a demon. They said it a couple times. Not sure demon = the devil himself.

Show did very good premier numbers. I liked it, although I agree that a lot of the characters have a 'seen it' feel to them--the banter between Crane and the female cop is very 'Elementary'-ish--but there's a lot they can do with the 'fish out of time' element, and it could be a lot of fun. We'll see.

I'll see where it goes ... It may be a coincidence, but it's almost as if they put the idea of "Grimm" thru a meatgrinder & came up w/ this somewhat similar show ...
"Cop" based, with a whole set of people/witches/supernaturals roaming around, some are "good", while others are bad, & only a few see/know who they are..
Is the boss captn cop guy really somehow "in on it", or is he simply a cop ....
I also wouldn't be surprised if the female cop's mentioned sister is one of the "bad" witches...
Much more a Fox answer to Grimm than to Once upon a Time, although there is a little of both ...

Nope I meant the Devil, horned guy who killed the officer at the end.
Horsemen i think they called Demons.

Waiting to see if they expand on it in Epi 2.

I thought it was pretty good, all things considered. This episode basically laid down the premise and assembled the Scooby/Buffy gang. I'll assume it's kind of an X files monster-of-the-week format, but instead of aliens as the long term story arch, we get the Horseman. It needs more Orlando Jones. He's too good an actor to just pop in from time to time as the grumpy cop boss.

They very specifically referred to the Headless Horseman as Death multiple times.

The demons mentioned in the show were separate from the Horseman. Presumably the creature who killed the cop was a demon. They never explicitly suggested that this creature was Satan himself.

I thought they were an autonomous collective! smile.gif

Independent non-union contractors?

I don't think Crowley has started a union on this show yet. Maybe when the writers watch a few more seasons of Supernatural they can put that in too.

Wasn't that the same creature that was in the realm his wife is trapped in? If so, they called that thing a demon too.

Yeah, got that part, but my point was to the original statement if he was the devil himself. He was definitely just an employee of the devil, out for a stroll. smile.gif
