On another thread here somewhere there was long discussion I can no longer find about a padded patch that Panasonic has that is installed in the bottom part of the fans on both sides of the ZT60s Plasmas to address and reduce the sound . No idea whether that reduces the effectiveness of the fan cooling.
Im quite perturbed by the second Panasonic rep I spoke to who told me to play at TV at 50% volume (not using Martin LoganMotion40s Speaker I have that arent hooked up yet) to see if I could
hear the fan noise. At that volume level at which I would not listen in th first place) I could barely hear him on the phone much hear the humming of ths fans. He might have well asked me to bring in a marching band and see if I could hear the fans over the pounding. l spent the previous day for 20 minutes with a the first Panasonic rep who went through his usual checklist and told me he had heard of the problem and, after giving me a case number), said I would be receiving a call within 24-48 hours day to arrange a convenient time for their service rep to come to my house fix the problem. The next day a second Panasonic contact called me (I was expecting an appointment time) but then went through the SAME EXACT questions the first guy did and, when I told I afterward I wanted to talk to a supervisor, told me he could not saying supervisor was busy even though I said I would wait. He said the first Panasonic guy, who was very thorough on the phone and listened to my problem, didn't document the problem completely in their system even though I asked him 3 times in our conversation to do so. I was then promised (by second rep) a call from a Panasonic supervisor with 48 hours and its 5 days later now with no contact.
