Hello AVS friends- new here and hoping to not just gather information but will also share my experiences and findings in turn.

I've already posted a question on suggestion for an outside, multi-pair, bug proof/resistant outdoor cable panel that allows me to connect my home's inside system to the outside world without air gaps.

Thank you all for any help!

Dan

Hey, everyone!!

My name is Tony Trout & I'm a 37-year-old male who suffers from Cerebral Palsy & Hydrocephalus but I'm a sound freak who is always searching for the best audio equipment.  I have a Coby home theater system.  Yes, it sucks big-time!  However, I'm not in a place financially to purchase a better one & it's not set up properly because my Stepfather suffers from COPD/Emphysema and wasn't able to situate the speakers where they needed to go so they're sitting under my table that my television is on rather than around my room.

I was surfing the net looking around about multi-CD players and found this forum.  I don't know how much advice I'll be able to give but I hope that I can learn some things while I'm here.  :)

Thank you all for having me!  I look forward to the discussions!
:)

Take Care/God Bless,
Tony Trout

Hello all. I am a 40 year old white male from Northwest Ohio. I have 4 young kids and a wife, so my time is largely limited. I work for the Bureau of Prisons in Southern Michigan, going on 5 years as a RN. I never had much interest in stereo systems or A/V equipment until about 1 year earlier. My father had always enjoyed the finer things in life and one of those things were Klipsch Reference series speakers. I could never understand why one would spend so much on a speaker system. I lost my father to a MVA on September 19th, 2012. And with his passing I inherited a 5.1 Klipsch sound system.I was so green that I didn't even grasp the concept of "channels" on a sound system. With much research and anticipation I was able to get an average understanding for the modern day A/V home theatre and setup a 7.2 system with a Yamaha RX-A820 receiver3x. I have purchased 5 speakers since begining. Two are Klipsch RS-62 first series along with two more RS-62 II. I also purchased a second digital RW-12d to crank out more bass. I am currently revamping my outlets and wall plate connections. I look forward to your insights as I know a great many of you have many years experiene. Oh.....and yes, this "hobby" is EXTREMELY addictive!!!!!!

HI, i'm 33 and I'd figure I'd join since i've got some time while i backup my PS3 saves.  Your forum constantly pops up in Google when i'm trying to find hard to find information on TV's and such.  I'm currently trying to replace my old Hitachi 46F610.  It didn't die, but i had to get rid of it due to how heavy it was, I couldn't handle making another move with it, and so I gave it to one of my cousins.

It was a great TV, extremely low input lag, great blacks.  The only real problem was the weight and the fact that the size of the projection didn't match the screen size.  (it would even grow larger over time for some reason.  The only fix was to use the auto color alignment feature.)  As a Graphic Artist, money can be tight so I'd really like to get the biggest bang for my buck.

I'm in Wisconsin (Go Packers!) and trying to find a house around Madison.  I'm looking for one with a nice basement so that I can do a Home Theatre project like so many great ones I've seen on here. (Like Dan's!) http://www.avsforum.com/t/1482518/dans-contemporary-basement-renovation-game-room-home-theater

good morning,
long time lurker, first time poster.

I have joined to specifically search for information in regards to setting up our entertainment center and interfacing it with free NAS, or other nas options.

I have two children, and hope to make it easier for them to help select movies, and keep my precious discs away from them.

Hello,

Just recently purchased my first smart TV and in the process of upgrading my home audio as well. Many of the questions I had pertaining to features of my LG 55 LA7400 led me here via Google searches. I've learned quite a bit so decided to join. Always been a techie and have been focused on phones and tablets over the past few years and didn't realize how far behind I had lapsed in the home theater front. Look forward to learning and helping when I can.

Hello all

New(ish) member here.

Thought I had an account way back from 2007, but apparently not! Anyway I have been a lurker for a long time. I always come here before I or a family member purchase any kind of electronic device. This is such an awesome site.

I originally started checking this site out when I was looking at buying a PJ. I ended up buying the Epson 6500UB in 2008. I have been enjoying it ever since.

Im back now because I needed a solution to watch the Superbowl in my Home theater and didn't want to increase my Comcast bill. I just purchased the Samsung Smart Media Player.

My setup is:

Epson 6500UB

EliteScreens Cinetension2 92"

Onkyo TX-SR606

Boston Acoustics MCS 130 5.1

PS4 / PS3

HTPC (XBMCbuntu)

Goflex Home NAS

PS3media server / Sickbeard / Sabnzb / CP

Always changing things and trying out new stuff but the core (AVR/PJ/Screen/Speakers) never changes.

Anyway, thanks for all the awesome info and keep up the hard work here. I look forward to putting in some of my experiences and reviews as well.

MP
