any advantages using remodel cans vs. new construction cans within a soundproof shell?

If all my can lights are in soffits, and the soffits are all built within the soundproof shell, are there any advantages to using a remodel can over a new construction one? I can't seem to find many 4" remodel IC rated cans but there seems to be plenty of new construction ones.

Which type would potentially rattle less?

Sure wish soffit would stop getting flagged by spell check :)

Thanks.

instruct your computer to learn soffit, it is a choice when you right click a misspelled word

I like remodel cans because they are a lot simpler to install, you drill a hole and pop it in, with new construction you have to measure carefully cut a hole in the bottom material before it goes up on the soffit and hope for the best.

Thanks Big!

So other than ease of installation there are no real performance benefits. Guess I can bump up to 5" cans and see if it is easier to find remodel ones at that size.

About that right click spell check, I am using the version on the forum editor and don't see that option. Well hopefully my days of typing soffit will come to a close as the soffits should be started and finished this week :)
