Samsung Plasma sound issue after extended "dish point" sound usage

Thread Starter
I have a 3 year old 50" Samsung plasma which has developed a sound issue.

The other week I was re-pointing my dish and had the "beeep" sound on for like an hour on decent volume level. It wasn't maxed out but probably 70% level since the build in speakers are pretty weak.

After a while the sound stopped and then it just stared to "pop" every few seconds. I finally got signal and tuned to a channel and heard voices so I didn't think anything of it. Later I realized that when a louder scene came on like, explosions, the sound would cut out for a second or two. Every time something louder happens the sound cuts out and in.

Any ideas what it could be? I don't want to invest in a separate sound system at the moment but this is making watching basically impossible.

Thanks

you probably "abused" the "pretty weak" built in speaker.... not much that you can do probably outside of replacing the driver which is likely a "5 cent" one to begin with. Of course, that's not what it will cost if you have to get it serviced.

It likely would be cheaper and sound better to connect to an external amp and speakers rather than pay for a repair. Boombox, sound bar, stereo, 5.1 - something.
