Ok, gotta admit, for someone that plans to keep a projector for several years, that does sound useful, especially if the street price difference is noticeably smaller than the 4K MSRP difference.
I do wonder, though, how many consumers are planning to buy a JVC now and then keep it for several years? I mean there are 2 important new technologies which current JVC models do not have yet and which we *might* already get near year: LED/laser light sources and native 4K chips. Oh yes, and then there is HDMI 2.0 with half or full bandwidth chips (10Gbit/s vs 18Gbit/s), new HDCP versions, wider gamuts for 4K Blu-Rays etc. Those are quite noticable changes. So I would think that most buyers at the moment are rather thinking short term. I know that I do, at least. I think once we have bright enough and stable LED/laser sources with wide gamut support and sharp native 4K projection, progress will probably slow down quite a bit. That might be the point in time where I could be willing to shell out some more money to get the latest and greatest projector, and then keep it for several years.
