9900 Euros converts to around $13k in US Dollars, so probably a MSRP of $12,999.00. I will be interested to hear from people who get to see it demonstrated at both IFA and Cedia. Lumens are listed at 1700 so calibrated it should be close in brightness to the HW50 at between 800-1000 lumens.
Whoot! A very reasonable price. That should be £8357. I hope they don't slap any more on for the UK market as we often pay in pounds what US pay in dollars. Just saw the VW500ES mentioned on the live Sony link from IFA. Looks like my VW95 is going on sale soon!
So purely speculating, if the VW1000ES is rated 2000 lumens and calibrates to around 1200-1300 lumens, the VW500ES should give you around 1100 'real' lumens. If it streets for under $10k then it will certainly give JVCs higher end models a run for their money.
Looks like a similar size to the VW1000 so I am guessing same chip size and similar if not same lens.
There is a spec sheet there as well, similar chassis size and lens shift, same chip size as the VW1000. When the dust settles and we find out how much this can be had for, could be very interesting
I am pleased to announce that I have found this year's 'Holy Grail' of a home theater projector...Best overall picture ever to grace my current, or previous home theater...4K is an obvious next step for projectors in the home.
The 4K difference.
With 4096 x 2160 resolution and pixels one quarter the size of traditional 1080p projectors, 4K delivers smooth, lifelike images with fewer artifacts, even on the largest home theater screens (up to 180"). So sit closer to the action jagged edges and revealed pixels are a thing of the past.
Wow! As usual with press conferences, this new PJ looks incredible! and if it streets for less than 10000USD, I wonder what JVC wil have to offer to top this? anxious to see real life contrast readings on this one...
Maybe Sony decided they want to actually sell some units? He did say affordable durring the press conference, to me 10 000 is affordable, 15 000 not so much
Sony's first 1080p projector was close to $30,000. A year or so later Sony introduced the 1080p Ruby at $10,000. The Ruby didn't have the same quality optics, but had a much higher contrast ratio. Those who don't learn from history are bound to relive it.
I doubt that they would sell it for $2000 less in Europe, generally everything is more expensive there... except perhaps wine ;-) Maybe the retail price will be reduced in the US?
I should know soon. I emailed my Canadian dealer and he is usually the one to get projectors before anybody else (in the world sometimes, not joking, had the JVC X70 before anyone else). I hope to have a price very soon, and I hope it's acceptable.
BTW, Sony lamps are freaking amazing. I've put around 1800 hours on my 50es and it's still bright! JVC usually lasted me from 400-800 (I hate JVC **** lamps) hours and the Epson would dim at around 1400 hours.

We will see. Anybody want to place a bet on who is right?
Also called VW600ES in the US.
