Need help setting up RTI A9 with Emo XPA-2 subwoofer and yamaha RX565 reciever

Hey Guys,
This is my first post on this forum, so apologies in advance if I sound dumb frown.gif.. I had a 7.1 home theater system set up in a dedicated media room which was running on Yamaha RX 565 all this while.. I found a great deal on RTI A9's and brought it to replace my fronts.. after conducting some research, I realized that the receiver isint powerful enough to get the best of the RTI - a9's, so I went ahead and purchased a Emotiva XPA-2 sub to power the a9's.. My question is - How can I set up the system to use the XPA-2 to power my A9's and the rest through the YAMAHA RX 565?

Thanks for your help in advance,
Abhi

I don't think you can: The RX-V565 doesn't have any pre-outputs other than for a subwoofer, and you need pre-outputs for the front L+R channels in order to send the front L+R audio signals to the XPA-2.

What's your budget? $550 will get you a new Onkyo TX-NR717 (an out-going model) at Amazon.com. If you're OK with factory re-furbs, $500 will get you a Denon AVR-3311 at Accessories4less.com. I don't think you can go much lower than that for an AVR with pre-outputs.

i was hoping to spend and would mind a refurb and as I am using a XPA 2 for the fronts, any regular reciever should be able to power the sub and the surround and the back right? unless I am missing something frown.gif

- You omitted the dollar amount.
- Just to clarify: You would mind a refurb (you're not interested in one) or you wouldn't mind a refurb (you're OK with one)?

Yes, all AVRs have at least one subwoofer output and can power at least 5.1 channels.

The Denon AVR-3311 factory re-furb at Accessories4less.com may be your best bet. It's $499.99 w/ free shipping.

Will a Denon AVR-3805 work too?

Why do you think you need the XPA-2? Are they distorting at the volume level used with the 565? If not, no need. smile.gif

Sure. Just be aware that that's an older-model AVR with no HDMI inputs and probably a number of other features you won't find on newer or more-recent AVRs.

BTW, +1 to jdsmoothie's point. If your current AVR powers your speakers cleanly, return the XPA-2 (if it's not too late to do so) and just enjoy your set-up. smile.gif
