Difference between Denon AVR-1613 and AVR-E300

Thread Starter
I know the Denon AVR-E300 receiver is the 2013 model and the AVR-1613 is the 2012 model. What I am trying to determine is if there really any difference between these two models. I've done some research but from what I can tell they are basically the same. Am I right in my understanding?

For the most part yes .... although two differences ....

1. On the 1613 with the NET/USB source selected, the Video Source setting will not work to select a different video source when playing a network audio source whereas with the E300 an HDMI video source can be selected while listening to Network audio.

2. On the 1613, in order to play Airplay to Zone 2 the main zone must remain ON (although a different source can be selected after the initial hijacking) while on the E300 the main zone can be turned OFF.

The e300 also has an AM Radio. They left that off the 1613.

The 1613 has binding post for speaker terminals which accept banana plugs. The e300 has push terminals for easy connection of bare wire.

Fry's has the e300 for $199 but the sale ends today. I think you can find the 1613 on clearance at many Best Buys for $239.
