Need to know the difference between Smart TV and TV with Ethernet port LG 60PN5700 60PN6500

From what i understand the 5700 is a smart tv and 6500 isnt.
The 6500 has ethernet port though. So can I still connect to the internet through that?
Also if I just want to play music or movies through tv from PC can I do that with just Ethernet?

Which 5700 and 6500's are you referring to? Plasma, LED, what? Which size? What year? If it has an ethernet port I would assume it has some sort of widgets built in, but not necessarily a smart TV? The smart TV's have Netflix, Hulu and other such apps built in. My 2009 Samsung had some really crappy Yahoo widgets built in, but they were so useless (to me anyway) that I never watched them. But it needed the ethernet port to obtain them.

Also, some other non-Smart non-widget TVs can use the ethernet port to access DLNA content over the network.

It could be just for firmware updates. Your manual should tell you.
