3 steps forward, 1 step back...
Today's backward step occurred while I was cutting my front baffle with the router. I plan to recess my driver 3/16" so I tested my new Jasper Jig and confirmed it worked as advertised and could, after a fashion, be used with a fixed base router. As I was routing the recess for the woofer, I noticed some vibration but it just seemed like chatter from the new cutter I purchased for use with the jig. When I finally realized things were not working as planned, I had managed to cut completely through the 3/4" front baffle (18.25" diameter), the 3/4" backer board, AND, cut an 1/8" deep hole into the top of my cast iron table saw. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Obviously the bit was not tight enough, but I had tightened it like I always do and had just routed a 6" circle as a test with NO indication of trouble!! AAARRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!
Oh well,...tomorrow I will buy more MDF and when I bondo the enclosure, I guess I will be adding a dollop to the top of my table saw, too.
