looks like minor typo above, ports are three 2"x7"
"x36", right? You are right, I corrected the original post.
by the way, it is almost a shame to cover up that driver. since you obviously have some skill there, perhaps a relatively large hole, powder coated, metal, mesh? just a random idea...
Nice mockup! It really helps to visualize the final appearance!! The understated look of the spandex over the MDF has really grown on me. When my wife first came into the man cave, she could not even find where I had hidden the monolith (probably due to the near black hole qualities of the monolith that prevents any light from reflecting off of it's surfaces).
As to the original tune, I think I was shooting for close to 16 Hz for the bottom register of organ music and most LFE material, and a port resonance up around 185 Hz. My hope was that with a bit of luck and damping, the port resonance frequency would be high enough above the pass band of the crossover but low enough in energy at nearly -20dB that it would be rendered nearly inaudible.
Since your post quoted above, I have discovered that my Audyssey mic and REW can play together on my computer. I'll post a graph and some questions (of course) soon.. Stay tuned
