What should my cable box resolution out be set to

Hello, I have a Motorola (comcast) box and in its menu you can select the resolution the box outputs.
At first I thought it should be set at native, but this causes about a 5 second delay when changing channels, during which the screen goes black (in either 720 or 1080i the current channels remains on for those 5 seconds and then switches). What should I set the output to-720p or 1080i or native? I believe it was originally set by the cable tech at )720p.
Thanks

Either 720p or 1080i. Try each one and use what looks best on your TV.

If your TV has a native resolution of 720p, that may be why the cable set it that way.

In order to avoid a delay when changing channels, do not use native.

I would set it to whatever is closest to my display. - ie. - if you have a 720p class display - use that - or if you have a 1080i class display - use that. But in all honesty - it's not really going to matter that much. either the display or your cable box will adapt.
