AVI vs MP4 vs MKV vs VOB. Which demands most network speed?

1. Assuming playing the same video but encoded in different formats, which video container demands the most network speed? AVI or MP4 or MKV or VOB or something else? I suspect AVI since it has the least compression but am not sure. (This info will be used for testing.)

2. Is wireless (40 feet as crow flies. Signal strength is good.) sufficient to support that video container or should I run a Cat5e cable (100 feet)?

Thanks,

1) The container isn't important to your network, what matters is the combined bitrate of the audio and video in the container.

2) See answer #1, but apply it to wireless.

Thanks for your reply. Is there a video that is generally recognized as a standard to use to test the speed capability of a network connection?
