Well I may have spoken too soon. This is the third pair of the S30's I've ordered in the last 6 weeks form Crutchfield. The first 2 pairs dark oak had a defect in the finish. So I waited several weeks and decided to order another pair in black. The black finish on one of the speakers has a large blotch in the finish that doesn't match the rest of the finish. I can easily see it from several feet away. I'm not nitpicking here. I love these speakers but I can't keep ordering and returning them to Crutchfield.
Okay 3 pairs of speakers and all defective ,now I'm starting to think that you are a nitpicker.
is it nitpicking when you can see a defect in the speakers finish from 10 feet away?
Can you post some pictures of the defect?
you went 10 feet away and saw the defect?
The speakers are on their way back. I could easily see what I can only decsribe as large blotch in the finish on the right side of one speaker. As i said before when I held it under the light I could see a small scratch or indentation in the finish. So someone at Cambridge Audio probably tried to buff the scratch out. When they did that they left a discoloration on the black finish.I'm not in the habit of ordering speakers and just sending them back for the hell of it. I don't have OCD. But when I see a glaring defect in anything I buy I return it. I loved the way the 30's sounded but I have lost all confidence in Cambridge Audio.
Agreed. Seems like CA's QC for the S30 is not up to jerrymb's standards. Rather than putting the burden on Crutchfield to continue to supply S30s until one pair is, I think it's better to consider something different.
