Need Cooling Recommendation

Have a closet containing my gear. It is about 10' Tall by 5' x 4'. There is a 4" vent to the ceiling. The room gets to be about 92 degrees or more and I would like to cool it to below 80 degrees. I am looking for QUIET recommendations as it sits at the rear of my media room.

I was considering products from Active Thermal Management, but don't believe they will draw enough airflow.

I am now considering a Mini-Split - don't figure I need one about 8,500 - 9,000 btu, but need something REALLY quiet.

Does anyone have any recommendations, experience, suggestions. I figure a budget in the $2,000 range with having the unit installed.

Thanks

I had a Fujitsu M/S installed in my outbuilding listening room a few years back and, in "Quiet" mode, it's spec'd @ 21dB, which may or may not be quiet enough for you.  $2K seems light; Though I obtained multiple quotes, it cost me ~$3,200, installed.

How well did it cool at the low setting???

Quite well, actually.  You'll need to match unit BTU to room size, of course.

I use a 1 ton (10000 BTU) in my equipment room (4X8X8) Quieter than my projector. Been steady for 7 years.
Enviroair. $3000 is about right

Didn't read your whole post.

I went through your same scenario and have a 6" quiet exhaust fan installed in my equipment room. My room gets over 90 degrees as well. Despite the fan being quiet, it wasn't quiet enough for movies. SO, I keep the thermostat on that set to 90 degrees in case of a minisplit failure.

Remember the old adage, " the poor man pays twice'. Your set up and room size are identical to mine and the exhaust fan was a loser. The mini-split I have (1 ton) is almost imperceptible and cools the room to whatever I set it to (76 degrees). It's a no brainer in that it will do the job.

Ugly, sure.  Loud, not so much.  My Fujitsu condensor is incredibly quiet and I'd be surprised if the Mitsubishi were much different.
