Replace Sony VPL-HW15 with JVC DLA-RS4800 B Stock

I see AVS are selling 'B Stock' JVC DLA-RS4800, and I was wondering if it was a worthwhile upgrade from my current VPL-HW15. I don't know much about that model JVC, I can't find any reviews on it.

I skipped the 3D upgrade, as I don't like it, and nether much do my 3 kids, so did not seem any point. But I would like deeper blacks, and at $2200 the JVC looks tempting, though I am in Canada.

the other option is the Mitsubishi HC5.

Any opinion as to whether it is worth it, it jut wait it out another year or 2 under the 4K's are reasonably priced.

Thoughts? Thx in advance

Yes, it would be an upgrade in all areas.

I don't think we'll be seeing true 4k at this price point in the next 2 years. JVC's E-shift-capable models will likely become more affordable, though.

+1. The HW15's contrast was highly exaggerated. Even my HW20's is no match for the older JVC RS45. Go for it.

As for the HC5, dynamic iris can only do so much, but it might be less costly than the JVC. If that is the case, might as well stay w/ your HW15.
