The writers are scrambling to do a Justin Bieber Wolf of Wall Street-type skit on his troubles as the cold open.

Kate McKinnon did a pretty good Justin Bieber impression last week, and will probably reprise the role tonight.

Jonah Hill as the host will probably bring out some special guest celebrity appearances.

I think Kate McKinnon is the best thing going for SNL right now. I love her presence in just about everything she does.

Leo crashed Jonah hills monologue overnight. The nbc logo was put in the upper left corner of the 4:3 safe zone for the Olympic parody open and now is in normal for the rest of the show. I love kate and Cecily.

After the beginning I thought the show crashed and burned. Normally I stay to the bitter end, but last night I turned it off at 12:40.

I agree about Kate.

Agreed, but you can pretty much take it to the bank they are going to work her like a rented mule until it will be hard to look at her much like Wiig. Only question is how many weeks the over/under is.

Unfortunately that means you missed another chapter of "no longer porn stars" with Vanessa and Cecily that was used as "filler" for the final open moments of the show. As usual, it was hilarious.

Looks like they might be trying to invent a new "The Californians" type sketch, poking fun at LA. This bit got VERY TIRED and repetitive, with nothing new no matter what characters they tried to inject.

The "Inside SoCal" was PRETTY AWFUL as well!! These male "featured players" this year are HORRIBLE!!!

From news reports...

Entertainment Weekly has confirmed SNL head writer Colin Jost will join Cecily Strong as co-anchor of “Weekend Update” following the departure of longtime anchor Seth Meyers, who will leave to host Late Night starting Feb. 24. Meyers’ final “Update” will be Feb. 1.

Jost, who joined "SNL" as one its youngest writers in 2005, will take over the coveted spot on March 1, co-anchoring alongside Cecily Strong who began her tenure at the desk this season.

After joining the staff at age 22 in 2005, Jost — a former president of the Harvard Lampoon – was named SNL’s head writer in 2012. He’s been nominated for seven Emmy Awards, taken home three WGA awards, and won the 2009 Peabody Award for his work on SNL.

Jost is also a stand-up comedian who’s appeared at the Just For Laughs festivals in Chicago and Montreal, and on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. His first feature film, Staten Island Summer, is expected in 2014.

Well, the Louie C.K. show was pretty much the worst show of the season! Dreadful.

Also, there was one strange edit(?) on the West Coast airing during W.U., in the middle of a Cecily Strong joke about President Obama "almost botching it". So I don't know if the cut was part of the joke, in which case I completely didn't get it, or if they decided to edit out some derogatory piece of what she was saying and did a horrible job (if so, they really should have just edited out the entire joke from start to finish). Can someone explain this to me?

Anyway, truly a horrible show last night.

They should edit out Cecily Strong from every sketch. I don't know who finds her funny and why they keep forcing her down everyones throats.

I don't mind Cecily. I'm not a fan of Aidy Bryant. Although I did think Dyke and Fats was the only remotely funny thing that happened during the entire show last night.

I thought it was decent by SNL's standards; there's been much worse this season. The Joseph A. Bank commercial was very funny.

Much of Louis C.K.'s stand-up monologue was stale with jokes covered by many other prominent comedians in the past. That said, I am really looking forward to the new season of his show starting in May.

Still haven't heard from anybody on the East or West coast about this joke during W.U.

Was there an "edit/cut" or not? Was it on West coast only? Or was it also on the East coast?

If the line ran in its entirety on the East coast, what was the line which was so offensive that it was edited out of the West coast airing?

I like her. And Nasim Pedrad. The others, not so much.

Another big Cecily Strong fan.

I like Cecily in skits a lot. Especially the ex-porn stars. But she's not exactly nailing it when it comes to Weekend Update.

The punch line was "love you, Bye"

I guess I'm in the minority, but I thought the Louie C.K show was one of the best of the season. Louie has a unique approach to humor and this ep used him well. I have to wonder if Louie added a lot of the writing. I laughed out loud more than I have in a while.

I still don't understand the joke, and you haven't answered my question.

What was the complete joke, to which "love you, Bye" was the punch line? I missed part of the setup as well. All getting foggy to me now. Maybe I'll try to find the whole W.U. online.

Was there or wasn't there a "break" at that point, where the start of the whole joke got going and all of a sudden there was a GIANT DISCONTINUITY and we were a few seconds later, with something clearly cut out in an edit (for the West coast?). That's why I thought something about the joke must have been deemed offensive, or perhaps she ad-lib'd something inappropriate or messed up the line and [heaven forbid] muttered one of the "seven words".

So, what actually happened on the East coast at that moment? Nothing unusual? Break/edit like I saw?

Maybe I'll just let it go (but can't!!).

EDIT: ok. Found the complete show on the NBC site. WU and that first joke about Obama nearly botching it starts at about 31:30, running cleanly and continuously with the punch line exactly as you quoted... "love you, bye". Certainly nothing unusual. (and the joke wasn't that funny anyway!)

So, I have no idea what happened during the West coast airing to cause that obvious "glitch", but I went back twice to re-watch it and it was definitely in the recording.

Ok. Case closed.

There was no break on the east coast. The joke was something along the lines of:
President Obama spoke with Russian President Vladmir Putin this week and they agreed to set up a meeting between intermediaries but almost botched it when he ended the call with okay, love you, bye.
Nothing bad, and not a very good joke.

Sorry, everyone is so average now I haven't bothered getting all their names down. I was thinking about the "heavier" girl that is in every sketch for some reason yet has no comedic timing or a funny bone in her body.

I don't find Cecily that funny either but she's not quite as bad.

You're thinking of Aidy. I dislike her very much. Almost 2 years on the show now and she still looks so uncomfortable. There's definitely no group of stand-outs on the show right now. The closest they have to a consistently good performer is Keenan and Tarram.
