Advice on size and picture quality (plasma/led)

I'm replacing my 106" front projector (Epson 1080UB) with a flat panel as I move into my new place.
My viewing distance in the new place is the same as now. About 12-13'.
It should also be noted I don't watch my front projector a lot and instead usually watch a 58" Panasonic V10 at about 9' ( which will be going into a different room with a now 14' viewing distance (so will not be main home theatre).

Picture quality is very important to me, and so I've been seriously considering the Panasonic 65VT60 for the 12-13' distance. However, I'm wondering if maybe for the same price go with a 70 or 80" LED instead.

I'd like your advice on if you think I'm better of with 65VT60 or something larger but with likely less pq. If I get the Vt60 will I regret the size for the viewing distance?
If you suggest a larger led is best, could you let me know which ones you think would be about the same cost as the 65VT60?

I would go with the 65VT60 plasma, as that will always give you a better picture than pretty much any LCD/LED display.
At 13' its not too far away. Not ideal, but not too far either...
Also, if you have any off-axis viewers, plasma will not degrade the image for those viewers either which is very important.
Good luck with what ever decision you make!

Ok, let's assume for a sec that I may entertain going again with a front projector and 106" screen. Would you still go with the 65vt60 for the pq or would there be a projector in the vt60s price range that would be good enough given the fact that you could get that larger image?

For budget projectors (or any projector for that matter), I'd start looking here:

Those guys know what they're talking about, and there are some very good projectors for under $4,000, though none will match the contrast and black levels of a plasma flat panel (even the best ones), but that just the nature of a projector system...

Ask yourself if you really want to lose significant "theater feel" by going from over 100 inches to 65 inches. I see those 70/80/90 inch LCDs all the time and while their PQ is poor compared to plasmas, at least they have that "theater feel" simply because they are humongous. I am not much of a movie watcher so that theater feel is not really important to me, but I would seriously give second look at those Vizios and Sharps if I were one. I know it's a difficult decision. I for one would be very sad parting away from those delicious Samsung F8500s and the VT60s.

Yeah, I think it's going to be a 65VT60 (found a good deal up here in Canada for it). I struggled with the decision hard, but ultimately I'm way to critical of pq to go with something that isn't up-to-spec.

I need to be wowed by pq.
