"American Horror Story: Coven" on FX HD - Page 9

I finally caught up on AHS Sunday, but my DVR kind of cut off in a weird place. Did the show end with
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Fiona freaking out in the Axe Man's house? Or did it go on from there?

I may need to go back and find it on demand to catch the end of the episode?

Yeah, you missed a lot. Most of it was montage after the scenes in Fiona's hell if I recall correctly though,

Any bets on next season? Based on the clues so far I'm thinking AHS:Hollywood and it being a movie production with nazis.

Thanks. Hopefully they will add it to On Demand on DirecTv soon.

Ok Stevie, we get it you're a singer, not sure we need to see her twice let alone once singing her classic hits. But yeah, the show was pretty weak, disappointing because it did start out very strong. It's almost like the writers were trying to hard.

Still thing first season was the best, and it's gone down hill since.

Here is hoping for a good 4th season.

I couldn't make it through the first season but started watching again. It usually seems like a bunch of random creepy stuff and is very visual. The acting is very inconsistent but not as bad as the writing. I accept it for what it is. The conclusion of Coven was really awful and dull. The kudos this show gets is really head scratching. It is a minor diversion and simply not that good. I will say that usually the first four shows or so are the best each season.

I pretty much agree with that. The promise this show demonstrated during the first season has been squandered in an inconsistent mash-up of shock visuals and bizarre plot twists. It's anything but a "horror" show. I'm about done with it. Will only be tuning into the beginning of next season to see what they do with Jessica Lange in her swan song.

While I tend to lean toward the direction of your post as well .. IMO, Lange, Bates, Bassett, Conroy played it so over the top and just seemed to throw themselves into the roles that it made up for much of the rest of the shtick .. the ensemble was worth the watch, IOW .. wink.gif .. I think the word "camp" might define it ..

I agree with the performances - they're first rate and the actors give it their all. And the camp, but that's not really how they're playing it, is it? And therein lies the problem - there's a jarring disconnect, like Murphy & co. can't really figure out what they want this show to be. So it just ends being... a mess.

It's kind of what happened to 'Glee', and why I eventually had to bail on that show which was so enjoyable in its first couple of seasons. Murphy just seems to lose control of his creations after awhile and they kind of start meandering aimlessly off on their own.

Well what do you know.

According to reports on to the internets it's "American Horror Story: Carnivale" next.

I mean "Carnival". wink.gif

I'm sure that was an idea that a lot of people were throwing around in one of the older threads, but how can the comparison not be made? Not to mention it will have a hard time being compared to what will still undoubtedly be the better, spookier and more authentic-looking cancelled version.

I don't know how many remember that great HBO series .. but at least the Carnival theme has not been done to death ..

Something taken from the old Tod Browing film .. where the sideshow "freaks" are really good people and it's the normal folks that are the bad guys .. wink.gif

The last season of Heroes was trying though. biggrin.gif

Actually the carnival setting of Heroes was one of the better decisions the show made I thought.

Aw, man. Now we're going to see creepy carnies with bad teeth, deformities, tattoos and piercings out the wazoo.

Ripped from HOTP:

TV Notes
Michael Chiklis Joins ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’
By Variety.com Staff - Mar. 28, 2014

Michael Chiklis is returning to FX, this time as part of the ensemble on “American Horror Story: Freak Show.”

Chiklis will play the former husband of Kathy Bates’ character and father of Evan Peters’ character in the fourth-season incarnation of “American Horror Story.” Creator Ryan Murphy announced the fan-friendly casting as part of the “AHS” Paleyfest panel on Friday at the Dolby Theater.

Murphy disclosed earlier this week that “Freak Show” would live up to its title. Set in the early 1950s in Jupiter, Fla., “AHS” mainstay Jessica Lange will play a German expatriate who runs a sideshow circus.

Chiklis starred in the edgy cop show “The Shield” that put FX on the map with original programming map from 2002 to 2008. The TV vet most recently starred in CBS’ period drama “Vegas” last season.

Chiklis was on hand for Friday’s Paleyfest session to trumpet the news.

Didn't see mention of Lily Rabe in the upcoming Freakshow cast list. Nor Taissa Farmiga.

But Emma Roberts will be back, along with fiancee Evan Peters.

as per the earlier mention of Carnivale, this is disappointing.
