Small HD Camcorder w/ 60frp+?

Hello,

The last couple years I've been getting more into shooting video of my hobby and although my software does "ok" to slow things down, I was looking for something with more frame rate like my GoPro Hero 3 Black but in a hand held. Currently using a Canon Vixia HFS20. Searching google I couldnt even find the fps on this camera. Anything out there in an HD handheld shoot 60frp+ and affordable? Thanks!

well 60p is common on cams now. if you want 120p look at panasonic zs30 digital camera

As fishywishy says, the $387.80 Panasonic ZS30 shoots 720/120p.

But so does the $328 Panasonic LX7.

Here is what this camera can do (please watch at 720p):

If you need a camera with an external mic jack for better sound, the only consumer camera with a mic jack that records at 720/120p is the $499 (on sale) Panasonic FZ200.

Here is what this camera can do (again, please watch at 720p):

If you do decide to get the FZ200 for its external mic input, you will need a $4 2.5mm to 3.5m adapter in order to use standard mics with it.

Hope this is helpful,

There is a very common misunderstanding regarding sound and high speed video recording.

Sound depends on time. You would have to play back any recording at the same frame rate that it was recorded in order to be able to hear sound properly.

For example, if you could record sound at 120 fps you would have to play it back at 120 fps so that the sound would work - no slow motion.

I don't believe that any high speed video cameras would include sound in their video output files.

Update 9/25/2013 - someone pointed out that this iPhone 5s 120 fps recording is probably playing back with sound. Turn up volume and listen carefully to catch.

Sadly, no. There are a few of the "action cams" that can do it (e.g., the $330 Hero 3 Black, $224 Panasonic A100, $175 Sony AS10 and $178 [on sale] AS15) , but no traditional "camcorder" below the price of the $7780 Sony NEX-FS700 shoots HD at frame rates higher than 60.

The difference between a "camcorder" and a "camera" is pretty much meaningless these days, anyway.

Cheers,
