I'm sure New World Communications is content to sit tight with Fox on an SD subchannel since most of the Topeka market can receive the HD Fox feed via Cox Cable. But for those of us outside Topeka or on OTA, it really sucks watching Fox in letterbox SD. (total horizontal res is 300 lines or so) I have a proposal that would at least help us sports nuts. Why couldn't they switch 27.2 to 720P and 27.1 to 480i during important Fox sporting events? Usually on Sunday afternoons KSNT airs infomercials or old movies in SD anyway. The exception might be hockey or golf, but most locals would prefer NASCAR or NFL to NBC's sports. I realize that 27's muxer may not be capable of that, but if it were, would that violate their FCC license? Does it say you must always broadcast the same res on each subchannel?
In the meantime, I will continue to watch WDAF Fox 4 from KC for all Fox programming, unless they are blacked out of an NFL game due to the Chiefs airing opposite.
