LOL.

Better late then never I guess.

I have links directly too the firmwares for both the 500 and 600.

I would think at this point the latest software would be installed. Indeed you listed it and I assume you will update post one if new software becomes available. The problem is what's in the future and then remember to go to post one yada. Probably easier to remember just check the sony e support site.

Then I will see about having a GTG to show off the 600 and another projector. Second projector will probably be the DPI Cine 1000 LED. When I have a date for this, I will post and let people know.

Wish you were closer, Mike! But keep us posted, so one never knows when a trip may come up.

The beauty of these glasses is that they are only 3.5 ounces. In other words, 1/5 of the weight of TDG-BT500A and not to mention that they are also chargeable.

Sorry, but your info is wrong - the BT500A = Weight (Approx.) : 1.27 oz (36 g) smile.gif

see: http://store.sony.com/3d-glasses-active-zid27-TDGBT500A/cat-27-catid-All-TV-3D-HDTV-Accessories

And the Xpand 105 : Weight 1.3 oz (37 g)

Looks like about same weight to me wink.gif

Calibrated one of these projectors today. Nice performance out of the box, could be used with no calibration as none of the errors were particularly bad.

After creating a custom white point, 2 point greyscale adjustments and some CMS tweaking it is outstanding.

FWIW I turned the Dynamic Iris back on after calibration on the lowest setting, 'Limited', turned Motionflow onto True Cinema (no perceivable negative effects) and left Reality Creation on. Looked pretty spectacular and has a lot of light output...I had it on Low lamp with a 140" wide 2.0 aspect ratio 1.3 gain screen was about 20ftL.

Shout out to Rich with Falcon Screens.....this screen is all around amazing. Can't wait to get my 600ES (HOPEFULLY before the games this Sunday)!

I have searched through this thread and projector calculators online but can not find an answer, hoping you all can help me.

Reading through here it looks like this projector supports different lens memories.

I have a a 130" 2.40 screen with a lens-to-screen throw distance of roughly 13' 6". Will this projector fill it up at this throw distance? Will I be able to watch a 16:9 image, just have black bars on the left/right side?

Thanks in advance!

In case this has not been posted, an excellent review of the 600 from Projector Central

Just got my 600ES projector installed today (not quite done but getting there). Coming from an old Runco VX-1000c, huge improvement in picture quality! Two questions for the experts here:

1) Netflix just announced 4k streaming. I know sony 4k TVs have an app which folks can use to stream 4k. How can we do it with this projector?
2) I got my FMP-X1 4K media streamer connected today as well. However, the aspect ratio seems more like a 4:3 than a 16:9? Does anyone know what I may have done wrong in the set up? Is there something I can do to fix it beside using the stretch or zoom feature? My screen is a 16:9 Stewardfilms StudioTek 130. Thanks!

It could be that your server is only outputting 480p. Are you going into HDMI 2 on the 600ES? If not, that is probably your problem What does the info screen on the 600 say it is receiving from the server?

Is 130" the diag or width?

It was HDMI 1. Moving it to HDMI 2 fixed the problem. Thanks Mark!

If that is 130" wide 2.40, then you need 14' of throw to fill that screen. That is with using the full panel width of 2.35 mode. If diagonal, then it will work. 16:9 is not a problem at that distance with 130" wide or diagonal.

Interesting, this seems to confirm Ekki's findings that only HDMI 2 supports HDCP 2.2 in the 500/600ES (thanks to the second unknown/unmarked chip).

It also seems to show that when a 4K HDCP 2.2 protected source is connected to a display not supporting this latest protection, you get 480p eek.gif.

I guess it's marginally better than a black screen tongue.gif.

Manni. I have known this for months even with no 500/600ES experience. On the Sony projectors only HDMI 2 is HDCP 2.2 enabled although some other HDMI inputs, but not all, will accept non protected by HDCP 2.2 4K sources. The server if it doesn't get HDCP 2.2 protection confirmation for a 2.2 protected source, will down rez it to 480p. The 1000ES upgrade is the same way. Only HDMI input 2 is for HDCP 2.2 protected 4K sources.

Correct. This has been posted several times. I guess some people missed it. smile.gif

It obviously gets upscaled to UHD or 4K but you notice it because it presents in 4 x 3 on the screen with black bars all around. but if you blow it up, it will still lock about no worse than an upscaled DVD.

Hello everyone,

I am new to AVS Forums. I reside in Germany and just recently bought a Sony VPL-VW500ES plus FMP-X1 media server plus Xperia tablet.

After days of hard struggle I was able to hook up the complete system and it works fine except one major thing:

I can watch all the movies that came on my FMP-X1 on HDMI Input 2 and download previews etc. But I cannot buy or rent any movies with my 4k hd remote app on my tablet. Is there any type of device activation/registration necessary?

Any help would be extremely appreciated. :)

PS: Next to the movies in the Sony video unlimited store are no prices or rent buttons. I will add screenshots (Tried before but did not work)

As you can see there is no rent or buy otion. Can anyone help?

It is my understanding that the 4k Rental/Purchase service for the Sony media server only works in the United States.

My FMP-X1 server is in the US via geo-unblocking.

As I said I can connect to Sony unlimited 4k and download any preview I want.

I'm surprised nobody has posted settings.

What are you guys using for Reality Creation?
Are you using LIMITED or FULL for the iris?
Limited Iris
Iris Brightness 85-90

I will play with reality Creation more to give you a good starting point.

No VPL-VW600ES Bundle Owners here? Did you have to activate your FMP-X1 in your Sony Unlimited Devices account?

Finally, SomeOne Who Knows!
Thanks SOWK! i also run the iris on limited and 90. I find FULL pumps too much and is visible. I like my RC at 50 for resolution and about 20 for noise filtering. I find it clears the picture up while adding way more fine detail.

Hmmm....I know Mark or Mike could shed some better light on this issue.
