My AVR is 1.3a, and because I don't care about 3D, there's been little incentive to upgrade. HDMI 2.0 doesn't really add much more incentive yet
Reasons I'd take the plunge on a HDMI 2.0 receiver
- if it had better internal scaling to 4k than the Sony (not likely in the first wave of AVRs)
- if if had FASTER internal scaling than the Sony AND the input lag on the Sony turns out to be mitigated by feeding it native 4k input
- once I have more than 1 HDMI 2.0 source (and right now, I have 0)
Don't get me wrong, I'm actually really eager to get HDMI 2.0 sources: I want 4k blu-ray, 4k streaming set-top box, HDMI 2.0-compliant HTPC video card, etc ... it's a shame that it's taking so long to get there.
