Samsung 75 in UN75F6300AF vs. UN65F7050AF

Earlier today I was at the Costco Store here in Mesa AZ eyeing up the Samsung 75 in TV (UN75F6300AF vs the Samsung UN657F7050AF) TV sets and I did notice quite a difference between the 75 and 65 in TV's in that the 75 in TV had a lot of "strobing" or "flicker" on the video scenes as compared to the 65 in TV. This was during a static scene where the background scene seemed to "flicker" on the 75 in set while the 65 in set was smooth (this was with the same source from Costco) so I wonder if the higher refresh rate on the 65 in TV really does make a difference .... I am very sensitive to flicker and low frame refresh rates. I do note that the 75 in TV has a CMS of 240 hz and the 65 in TV is 480 hz,,,would this be the reason why the 75 in TV looked bad? Of course the Costco source doesn't help much either...it was a video clip of a scene with dinosaurs.

I do wish that the local Costco store would stock the Samsung UN75F6400 set...that one does seem to be better from what I have read. I am looking to upgrade from a 4 1/2 year old Samsung 55 inch TV.

Thanks!

Really impossible to say without knowing what the settings were, and there are several in the Samsungs having to do with motion, frame rate, etc.

Are you able to get the remotes and dig into the menus to see?

They do not leave the remote controls out probably because they would get lost or walk out the door smile.gif. I'll go back there sometime during the week when they are not so busy and see what I can find.

Thanks!

Bring a copy of Buzz' settings from the F8000 owners thread. They are linked from the first or other early posts..

OK - thanks for that idea. It will be interesting to check out the settings that Costco put in, although likely it is just the factory demo mode settings.

I did go back to Costco today to check out the 75 in Samsung...turns out it only has a 120 hz refresh rate, while the other TV I was looking at has a 240 hz refresh. Being that I am very senstive to flickering that 120 hz refresh TV wouldn't work for me, and Costco doesn't have the 240 hz TV in a 75 or 80 inch size. Oh well.....

Thanks!

You were incorrect about the hz or refresh rate if it is a 720 refresh rate it is the 240hz

the 240 refresh rate is half which means it was only 120hz  so that could have caused the poor picture.

At the Costco in Burbank CA  both had a great picture....so I ahd to do my homework and found out that the 75 inch was only 120hz.
