Congrats on the soon arriving sub Blackmamba, make sure the stairs can handle the weight of the sub and a couple dudes on it, 2 of my friends and I were moving a safe years ago, and the dolly went right thru one of the stairs, and pulled 2 of us down the stairs with it lol

Woah I bet they was scary! Actually JP gave me a good idea. I could just take my cordless drill and easily pop out the screws holding the drivers in place. Then I could just pull out and unplug each speaker. After I carry down each speaker effortlessly I'll just be left with the enclosure, cutting off 130lbs. I was going to take pics of the drivers anyways so maybe this idea will work out the best.

Make sure you have zip ties on hand to put the driver back into the enclosure, it makes it so much easier.

I wonder if it would void any kind of warranty if you had a problem with it and they found out you had removed the speakers from the cabinet. PSA seems to have stellar customer service, but I wonder of they would be fickle about that. (hopefully not considering what a behemoth it is to be moving around)

I’m afraid it might not be that easy. Many times the leads are to short to pull the driver out all the way to unfasten. On top of that the leads are crimped so your would have to cut the leads if you can get to them in a easy fashion. Can’t say how things are with PSA, but it’s the way of things in many circumstances.
post #1265 of 3312
Since the drivers aren't in Blacks yet, maybe have Tom not crimp them so he could remove them?

Probably lots of liability Tom wouldn't want to take on, but a person can always ask.

Sure, it might change shipping and a few other things though??? The amp is always a option in access also. I dunno??? getting more complicated by the post smile.gif

Good point, I didn't think of that. I guess maybe I'll ask Tom how easy the drivers in the Triax are to take out, I def don't want to cut any wires eek.gif I took out my Trinity drivers before (40lbs or more) and the leads kind of popped on and off fairly easy but I didn't even think to ask PSA 1st. If I have any issues carrying it I'll just give them a ring and ask. I hope it's easy because I'd like to get some pics of the drivers smile.gif

Haha sounds like that'd be the life, a nice rack for the audio equipment and another rack to hold the coronas!

Everything except for the cat, I don't want any fur in my room! eek.gif I can't wait to have a dream setup one day, I want to see a crew with a forklift bringing in the subs to install, and I need some racks around here on the double! biggrin.gif

Im going to take a crap load of pics, and video showing it from all sides, the drivers, placed in my setup, and cranking up movie, music and bass demo, frequency sweeps, readings from a spl meter, ect. And offcourse im showing how the rest of the house reacts including upstairs. I might not have it made and posted till next weekend though

Here you go.

Here a graph (1/12th smoothing) of my Triax vs SVS 16-46PC+ (Triax is the darker line);

Here's the waterfall of the Triax followed by the SVS;

A few things to note......

I don't have Audyssey or any EQ device, just a single PEQ filter in my pre/pro that I'm using to tame a peak centered at 72hz. I have no special room treatments. Also, since I'm only concerned about performance at the prime LP, that's the only spot I measured. At the time I measured the SVS, I was only measuring down to 15 hz. I'm not really motivated to move the subs again to take a lower measurement of the SVS. I expect below 15hz it would really drop because the SVS is tuned to 16hz with it's HP filter set to 16hz. The Triax resides in the same corner where my SVS use to be. Previous tests with the SVS found this to be the best spot in the room. Given the size of the Triax, it's the only spot where I can keep it.

Edit: The Triax was measured with the Program button out for rooms over 5000ft3 (my room is about 5500 ft3).
