Tom said the new drivers averaged 125.39db 20-63hz.

Take the old numbers and add them together and divide by 2. 116.4 + 127.5= 243.9/2 = 121.95db 20-63hz.

The point is the new drivers are showing about a 3-3.5db increase.

I agree its not an exact measurement but its enough to get close. The folks that pre ordered a Triax are getting a nice increase in performance with no extra cost.

The stated 3-3.5db average increase from 20-63hz doesn't really tell us how much increase there is in the ULB (20-31.5hz). It very well could be that the majority of the gain is in the higher frequencies with no gain at the bottom end.

Mainly just out of curiosity, I'd like to the numbers in the same terms used on the PSA website; ULB 20-31.5hz, and LB 40-63hz. I think that would give a clearer idea were the gains were made. smile.gif

Yeah, I'm a bit concerned about how I'm going to get the beast into the house and in place without damaging the finish (Cordovan Cherry smile.gif ).

I highly doubt that the majority of the increase will be in the upper frequency with drivers that have 44lb motors.

^^^^^ I would agree, If I had to guess I would think that the improved driver would help more in the low end.

Since I don't know anything about driver design, I'll defer to y'all's judgement here and hope you're correct. Extra output way down low is a good thing. biggrin.gif

Sorry. My misunderstanding. I thought you were posting about the Triaxs' drivers as opposed to the winner of the HTS Triax giveaway contest. Congratulations to the winner; ellisr63. That's some score.
