I would love to try those out but you ought to see my room as it is, all speaker/SW. I’ll send you a pic sometime just to give you a good laugh. Back in the day I think I very well might of tried them out, from your opinion of them.

ill probably have bruises on my back from explosions and car wrecks in movies eek.gif

Considering your conversation with bass yesterday and the amount of headroom you have as it is, I would think so! I could only wish my bedroom was that size but then it takes less to get me there. Anyway it’ll be fun to see what you come up with!

750.00 seems steep for veneer imo. The Power X line is only 150.00 extra, so I could see 3-400.00 for the Triax. Anybody contact Tom to see if thats a Typo? Hell The veneer cost as much as a XS15 lol.

The veneer prices went up for the entire line, I can only assume its in part due to the high demand.

The difference between the base price and veneer price are as follows.
XV15-$450
XS30-$350
Triax-$750

As for the Triax is so much more. As to the reasons for the higher price, more baffles, more edges, heavier cabinet and overall larger amount of veneer needed.
The FR graph looks better now then the old drivers of the Triax.

Tom told me in an email that the price went up due to their cabinet makers price. They were also surprised that it went up so much after the first group were made.

I'm sure there was a good reason for the price going up, I highly doubt it's just because Tom and Jim are just trying to make more money.

I can understand a price increase but the price tripling seems excessive...just sayin. I do not need veneer so the increase does not effect me any. However I do think it will kill the veneer sales badly...atleast for the XV15 and XS30. Probably not so much with the Triax because anybody dropping 3k + on a sub probably is not worried about a extra 750.00 to get a decor matching veneer.

All I can say is in the last 24 months birch plywood prices have almost tripled.

Look how much veneer cost now...
http://www.woodcraft.com/category/2008659/cherry-veneer-sheets.aspx

I wonder if it has gone up because they are not getting a mass order of veneered speakers... Maybe the pricing is for individual speaker pricing where when the ordered the first batch the ordered a lot.

To be honest, those are going to have to be some great reviews for many more to jump on that expensive boat. Even before jumping, you will still have to mix what you read here with a few professional reviews because those who pay that much money for something also receive a set of rose colored glasses.

As long as the reviews are out there (I'm really hoping for a review from Josh / databass testing). It should live up the hype. With the old drivers according the PSA website a long term ouput of 108 at 20hz is possible or 105db with a deeper role off at 20hz (listed on the measurement tab) Considering that and the fact that the measurements are NOT maximum output there is likely more left in the tank. If the Triax can beat the paradigm sub 2, the funk audio 18.0, and in general score well. I think people will buy it more than that already have. Granted its very expensive even if it is a good deal. But you have ot pay to get a lot of output.

Personally. I don't think there's any hype going on other than a bunch of online junkies excited as all heck regarding the delivery of their new toy.

In my opinion, Tom and Co. have taken care of all the technicals. Now, it's all about the smile factor and will this pending subwoofer plaster an indelible smile across the face of the buyers or not. All a measured review is going do is confirm what the smiles already know to be true and accurate.

As encouragement, go ahead and watch "Hangover Part III" as I don't think "Hangover III" qualifies as a premier subwoofer movie like "World War Z"

(hangover was hilarious. hangover ii was a bit rank for my tastes. hangover iii looks to be back in good hilarious form)

I actually thought that WWZ was horrible for LFE, the movie and bass stunk. Everyone keeps talking about WWZ? There are so many other movies worthy. My first movie will be Pacific Rim. I will be at the store early and get my copy. I also have a stack of movies here unopened all filled with LFE that I have been waiting to watch with the new subs.

I like all the chaos in it, screaming, explosions, gunfire, everywhere! I dont care for the storyline but it was fun. Pacific rim is def my top choice for the triax!
