Official PSA Triax Thread - Page 17

So jealous. I'm excited to be getting two XV15's here in a few months. I would love a Triax, but I don't think my better half will go for the cost difference. Look forward to hearing more impressions.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

bass, your Camaro is starting to look like its a slight faded shade of red from the picture, looks like it could use a really could wet sanding and cut polish.

I can a pretty sweet, red 92 Volkswagen GTI back in 95 for about 4 years. It was a love hate relationship with that car, the color would start to fade a little and I'd have to give it a really good cut polish to get it back to that really bright red finish.

Dave I can only imagine what dual Triax's are like. How big is your room again?

I actually just finished watching Pacific Rim about 20mins ago with the wife and kids. HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, that movie has some serious bass. I have all of my speakers calibrated to 83dB at the main LP and each sub is calibrated to the same so when they're both on that works out to almost 87dB.

We just watched that movie with my master volume set at -15, holy crap it was pretty awesome. I can only imagine what dual Triax's would be like.

I've measured the Trinity in my room (as well as the Reference) and the FR was all over the place compared with pretty much all of my other subs. My suggestion is try running your triaxes without that in the mix, the overall response will likely be much smoother and controlled. Even with proper integration (measurement gear and real EQ) you will certainly be handicapping the PSA subs in terms of FR and output. Those two subs are on completely different playing fields.

Congrats Dave on the arrival of your new children, can't wait to hear them in person one of these days. biggrin.gif

Not sure what you are looking at lol, I can assure you the paint is mirror image. You probably are seeing cloud reflections... The car only has 16k miles. Here is a pictures taken on a sunny day. Notice the school and skyline reflecting in the paint. Faded paint wont do that...Trust me I am a car guy. It still looks like the day it rolled off the show room floor and still smells brand new inside. Never seen rain or sow. Possibly the cell phone pics are not doing it any justice, but I have never had anybody say the paint looked faded. Actually I have had several ask me if I keep it in one of those plastic bubbles.

Good thing you listened in the garage. If it had been in the living room, you would have lost your computer. tongue.gif

Could it depend on the room or calibration? Im just wondering because i was hitting 129dbs with my trinity the other day and that was just one trinity in a 4590sq foot room and even on pure concrete floor it was doing some damage to the foundation biggrin.gif i was just curious because mine sounds pretty strong but it does lack at 30hz and below.

Nice vehicles, you take good care of them I see. I grew up with Camaro's and a Chevy fan, but now I am all Ford. There is a Shelby at the dealership with a supercharged 5.8 SVT engine just waiting for me to buy it. However the wife wants a Challenger.

Thanks Andrew. Anytime you want to come down and listen let me know. Unfortunately I will not be able to bring these to any GTG's anytime soon unless I get some help.
Thanks! The Yukon just turned 170,00 mi believe it or not.

Oh yea a friend of mine has a GT500 with the 5.8, its Sweet! I would go that route over a Challenger, but gotta make the wife happy!

It seems like I read about a year ago that Ford has a new 9-1000 hp mustang on the board? The pic I saw of it had awfully ugly huge back tires on it though.

I just received my TRIAX in espresso and I will say that the finish is just stunning. I'll be able to post some pictures tomorrow because today it's cloudy and my garage has really bad lighting. I also got a nice PSA coffee mug so I can take it to work and brag. I will not be able to move it upstairs until I recruit some troops to come and help.
PSA mug?

Can you show us a picture of your PSA mug?

Tom, how much for a PSA mug?

We will be waiting, well I hope.. does that cup come in red?
They should make one where the sound wave graphic turns red when the cup gets hot, like Freezy Freakies.

This may be a dumb question but what differences are there with placing subs on a wood floor verse concrete? I noticed alot of people have there setups on wood floors but mine in on concrete with thick carpet so im wondering does that mean id need more power than if i was on wood to feel equal effects from the subs?

If it is a downward facing sub and it is facing into carpet I would think the carpet would be absorbing it... If it is facing a wood or concrete floor it would be reflecting the sound IMO.

I was kinda thinking like with the Triax, if it was on a wood floor would it rumble and shake the room a lot more verse being on concrete and carpet?

I think this is correct.

I am not sure that a downward facing sub shakes the floor any more and a forward facing one.

Any pictures of the espresso in your room? Espresso is the sexiest to me! Congrats, enjoy and let us know your thoughts!
