After joeblow's post I was ready to move 2K14 to #1 in my Gamefly Q but, after that video I may remove it completely. So what if the reflects are realistic, the gameplay looks the same to my eyes. Like I said, I'm not much of an NBA video game fan so, I may just wait until next year to rent one. Looks like FIFA is my last hope for a sports game at launch but, I haven't seen to much of it so far.

I can't wait to see what SCE has instore for MLB The Show on the PS4!

You might want to give next-gen Madden a chance. The most recent Madden video actually looked pretty good in regards to the battle in the trenches between the defensive linemen and offensive linemen. Seems like the line play is the best it's ever been. I've been very critical of the next-gen madden, but it's worth a rental if nothing else.

As deflated as I am by the recent 2K14 trailer, I'm still anxious to see this game in action, as soon as I can (hopefully rent it via Redbox or something).

If you still are unsure of the difference between current gen and next, check these out:

OperationSports

Faces look like actual part of the head rather than mapped on to a skull. Much more detailed and nuanced too.

My take on the video... I've long thought Tom McShea was horrible, and the fact that he was allowed to commentate over the first gameplay trailer cements t. I don't care much for pro reviewers as a whole, but he is near the bottom of the list fo his frequent, trolling tactics designed to get web clicks.

Also, Gamespot's compressed, 30 fps player is pretty terrible as well for what is a 60 fps game that has pretty good image quality based on direct feed shots. Hopefully publishers understand that they need to step up the quality with previews next gen since the old play back sites don't measure up well.

With all that said, I agree with some that the actual 2K14 gameplay video did not look like the overhaul we were led to believe. There are many subtle improvement no doubt, and I'm pleased they locked in to 60 fps (at 1080P to boot). However, the flow of the action instantly looked like previous 2K releases to me, so they can't claim it is 100% built from the ground up because I don' believe it.

There is one sequence where a coach on the sidelines at the bottom of the screen tries to turn around, but does so by walking in a tight circle as if he were on a unicycle - that's current gen movement.

Keep in mind that to me, building off of the old 2K basketball releases is not a completely bad thing since the series remains the top b-ball game on the planet, but I do not see the massive leap towards top-tier realism that I thought they had achieved from early snippets.

tl;dr: While the hype has gone down, my interest in playing my favorite sport on the PS4 remains high. It may take Sony's The Show (my second favorite sport is baseball) to go over the top with the wow factor since it isn't a multi-plat release.

2.5 minutes of game play. Also mentioned a new 5 on 5 online life I hadn't heard about yet

Man, it looks way too good in close ups. I guess I can't give a final verdict 'til its playing on my screen.
Yeah, we need some uncompressed video.

I'm sure it all looks more subtle in the normal camera FOV, but not much you can do there once you get to a certain level of detail. It's the small things and animations that will then start being key, along with the AI and simulations.

My brother is gonna flip out when he plays this game. He is a lot more casual gaming-wise, but he loves sports titles.

Some Gamestops already have it stocked

Another 50GB install!

Took a look at the trophy list and apparently 2K has basically been copy pasta'ing it for 3-4 years now.

We should have a AVS league for the PS4 version of NBA 2K14. (I assume I'm getting it on PS4, but if for some weird reason the XB1 version gets 9's and the PS4 version gets 8's, then I'll be on the green side, but I'm not really expecting that to be the case. I already have a number of buddies buying this on PS4, so I'm pretty sure I'm getting the PS4 version)

There are 30 nba teams. If we got 15 guys together, we could have a draft, and we each have one team in each conference. We can play a reduced season, so it isn't 82 games x 2 different teams. That's too huge a commitment to me, but a reduced season could be interesting.

Yeah, I'm getting this for sure.

I'm not even an NBA fan (mainly just a college b-ball fan) but that video sold me. I just replace AC4 in my GameFly Q with this, too much eye candy to not give it a chance. That's it, I'm done editing my GF Q.

I'd consider playing in a league but, I haven't played a basketball video game in probably 6 or 7 years and I was never that good against real people.

The facial expressions in this game are the best I've ever seen. LA Noire had the best facial animations of last gen and it is exciting to think that that level of detail and better may become the norm this generation instead of the exception.

I'm in the same situation - huge college basketball fan, not really much of an nba fan. But this game looks amazing so I'll be purchasing as well. Can't wait.

Awesome idea!! I'm IN!!

Really with there was some uncompressed gameplay out there. There's a youtube offscreen capture floating around and it doesn't look so hot, but why would it? It's an offscreen youtube capture.

You can tell there's some unevenness to where they spent their time. Big name coaches and players are a quite a bit better looking than the others, but that's expected a bit especially for a first go with a rebuild. Facial animations when talking are nothing to write home about, but ok for a sports title.

Yeah, you know that stuff looks really cool the first time you see it, but if we keep seeing the same interviews over and over and over again, then it's going to get real tired, real quick. The only way for this to really work properly, is if they recorded like 20 different interviews, for each player. We know that's not the case, so I'm guessing that this is going to get real old real quick.

Also, they have to have the guys standing with a different pose. Having every guy stand the exact same way is just silly.

I give them an A for effort... at least they are trying new things and trying to push the envelope.

Baby steps... baby steps..

I think that's pretty cool - Gonna be fun.

I hope you can turn those off, they got annoying in that short video. Everyone is standing the same way, either hand on hips or behind back, everyone has the same swaying motion and the reporter looks stiffer then a mannequin. Not impressed at all.

I'm hopeful that the team at 2K is aware of all this feedback about the way the players are standing, and hopefully they can patch in more random standing poses for the players. I wouldn't imagine it to be too difficult. But yeah, if they don't add more randomness to it, I'll probably turn that off in the options or just skip past it every time.

By the way, the IGN review is up.

This game looks really good at some spots on PS4.

I wish they would have done something different with player conversations . The mimes are really awkward.

As far as I'm concerned, this game is the killer app for Next-Gen so far. From the moment I first started up the game on the PS4 and it started it's intro sequence, I was in love. I've been extremely impressed with the quality of the visuals in the game, and the gameplay seems as solid as ever. Some of the player models are shockingly similar to their real life counterparts. (Kobe Bryant looks AMAZING). The game is just dripping with atmosphere and excellent production values. The replay cam from behind the backboard, with the fuzzy video quality just shows that Visual Concepts sweats the details like none other.

I'd give this game a solid 9.0 if I was reviewing it.

Agreed, Anthony - I love this game, too. Send me a friend request, to Chairman7w

Let's get a game in!

Hope to get some help with my issue. First, when playing killzone it works fine, but when i play nba 2k14 and go to nba today no videos show up. Then when i try and do quick game or anything it drops the sound and then freezes on me. I hit the ps button and try and back out but when i get to the UI screen that freezes. So I try and turn off the system with ps button and I cant just stays on the UI screen. Now when hold the power button down for seven seconds it beeps but nothing happens so i end up having to unplug and then plug back in everytime i play 2k14, i havent played since yesterday due to that, and i get no error message but all other games work fine killzone and the space ship game hope someone can help.

After the 2k14 update is when i started having these problems!
