I think they did that because there own software was showing the defects In the screens ... What manufacture would want that .... Been gone for 2 weeks on surgery I like to see u keeping the thread going ... Great job !!

OK, cancel the harassment idea. Over on the 84LM9600 thread is some rather concrete reassurance about an HDMI 2.0 update. It looks like development is well underway and harassment would serve no purpose.

Had some time to kill last night so I decided to do some experimenting to see if I can get an HEVC file to play again. I tried first through USB again: an MP4 container with an HEVC encoded file, a transport stream (.ts) HEVC encoded sample, and a MOV container HEVC encoded file...none of them worked, it said unsupported format for all.

I then wrote my own app using LG's NetCast Developer SDK and installed it on the TV. I tried playing the same files, again similar results except the .ts file played, but it only played the audio (which was AC3 encoded). The next step is to change the app to use the HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) support on the TV and see if that works. My guess is it will not work either, but it will be interesting to find out...

Tall, you've gone pretty far to get claimed USB support for HEVC to work. I've just tried a variety of samples of all resolutions from the Web - none have worked.

Haha, well the second test case was a bit far fetched I must admit, but it was more my curiosity about writing my own app for the TV platform that sparked it. Note the second case wouldn't be for playing through USB, the SDK doesn't give you access to USB, it would be via streaming or in my case I packaged some videos in with the app.
