The three projectors I have owned have all been Panasonic. I have not once in 10 years been bothered by the screendoor effect, even though I sit just 1 x screen width away (slightly more than 2 m at 16:9). Yesterday the lamp of my PT-AE3000 died on me (while watching the final season of BB!), having clocked in at over 1800 hours. I'm seriously considering upgrading rather than replacing the lamp, the JVC DLA-35 being one possible choice due to its black levels. I'm just a little worried if screendoor effect may now be an issue. I don't want to make the picture smaller, I really enjoy the immersive effect of sitting at 1 x screen width. Would I be better off sticking with a Panasonic such as the PT-AE6000(/8000)? My HT room is close to batcave dark, eyesight not perfect but pretty good as I'm wearing contact lenses.
