They are designed to be low power for NAS boxes, and have a few features that make them appropriate to that type of usage like anti vibration, and they play nice with RAID found in some nas boxes. They also have a "sleep" mode that uses very low power when not being used.
They would work fine for a PC, but you might find a cheaper option for PC. NAS drives (seagate just calls them "NAS" instead of "RED") are available from many MFG's and usually they have 3 year warranty (verus 2 with normal HDD) but cost a little more.
The "GREEN" would be the version of the RED that is not for NAS but for basic desktop storage.
