One remote. Google TV boxes (like the new Xbox One) use ir blasters. I was very surprised how well it works.
I should preface this by saying that ir blasting isnt for everyone. I was initially very leery of it - in fact the main reason I bought the GTV box on clearance (I have a Logitech Revue) was for its awesome keyboard (which is now sold as the K400 htpc keyboard). I wanted to use it with my computer and didn't care about GTV.
When you push the "live tv" or "dvr" buttons on the Logitech remote it then begins ir blasting to your cablebox (or in our case a WMC extender). As long as you're in live tv mode the navigation and transport controls will control your extender - play, stop, pause, rewind, fast forward, record, up, down, left, right, back, select etc.
If you press some of the GTV keys - home screen, web browser, Netflix, etc the navigation keys will go back to controlling GTV functions.Edited by pittsoccer33 - 1/3/14 at 6:15am
