Yikes, that puts the half life of the bulb at under 2000 hours. Luckily for me LG are releasing a 1080p LED projector soon for a reasonable price. I'm keeping a close eye on Amazon and the thread for it.
If the projector is sized correctly for the screen size, gain and throw to start with, normal light loss though aging is not a problem. People tend to buy over sized > 120" screens and a projector that can just about light up that size with a new lamp. Then 500 hours later they are pissed when there isn't enough light.. The manufacture may say image from xx - xxx but that is just how big the lens will make the image not that the projector can actually light it up to a sufficient level to be watchable.
