You are quite mistaken. The Harmy editions are very legal. They are classified as historical restorations and, provided no money ever changes hands and you own the officially available releases, they are completely legal in the United States.
This is a fan preservation made for culturally historical and educational purposes.
Fanedits and preservations must not be bought or sold.
Please report every fanedit or preservation you find for sale to webmasters of originaltrilogy.com.
Fanedits and preservations are an artform and to be shared among legal owners of the officially available releases only.
Do not support piracy.
EDIT: If the studios ever release a BluRay edition of the unaltered original films then these versions may become illegal at that point (in the US). Not sure how that works.Edited by cybrsage - 10/19/13 at 4:58pm
