"Almost Human" on FOX HD - Page 4

Kinda agree with you on that but they did go to 3 already with him as owner so its shaky either way.

The overnight nielsen ratings (nielsen families suck) does not include online. Since Fox online viewing is free, a lot of people watch it online. And a lot of companies think that online viewing is important, (especially because you can't fast-forward commercials). I hope it gets adjusted upward, because personally I don't know anybody who didn't like the show.

I had about 3 people at work who did not know it was over 2 nights. Once I pointed this out today they are going to watch. Not bad numbers but not numbers being lead in by a big game.

Which is what I said but they don't have cable do the whole HT over the air. So no DVR box.
Lots of rebels who enjoy their money at work. If only I did not live out in the boonies I might join them....

I'm wondering if the wrtiters of this show are 'toying' with the idea that the Main character cop w/ synthetic leg doesn't Just have a synthetic leg ....
Perhaps his brain, or part of his brain was expermentally ( top secret/cutting edge) swapped out ....
There was a line in the pilot where his boss said something to the effect of " Your (Android) partner is special, just like you ".... to him ..
Not saying it's so, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's at least an idea in the writer's room ...

I thought for a second you meant J.J. Abrams, LOL

Anyway goind against SNF and MNF back to back the result is not so good ratings IMO

From tvbythenumbers.com "UPDATE: According to time-zone adjusted ratings (finals) Almost Human earned a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating"

I like your thinking but that would be a bit too much of a creative steal from Blade Runner.

Of course, as we all know, Deckard was a Replicant! eek.gifbiggrin.gif

I'm generally with this show, I feel it has a Minority Report/iRobot feel. I don't know how long a show can last with that kind of vibe until it's rinse repeat. I'm hoping this can live up to POI, but it being on FOX doesn't make me hopeful. lol...

According to Futon Critic this is what the episode order is so far.

12/2/13 (Mo.) 8:00 PM FOX (HU-108) Blood Brothers
11/25/13 (Mo.) 8:00 PM FOX (HU-106) Are You Receiving?
11/18/13 (Mo.) 8:00 PM FOX (HU-105) Skin
11/17/13 (Su.) 8:00 PM FOX (HU-101) Pilot

So it isn't Fox unintentionally (or maybe intentionally) trying to tank the show? Skipping three episodes seems like a bad idea to me, especially if there is a reoccurring story. I remember when they did that with Firefly...fans are still upset about that.

Who knows what mischief lurks in the minds of network executives? Not even The Shadow knows....

Or it's the usual valuable contribution from the marketing and programming department and they wanted the sexy sexiness of sexbots to sex up the show as soon as possible to follow on from the actiony action-ness of the pilot.

No time for overthinkiness in sci-fi! Got to get those ad dollars rolling in and by showing the sexbots episode the next night the show not only appeals to the basement dwelling nerds but also the beer dribbling sports jocks. It's a marketing win-win for cross demographic advertising and targeted sponsorship opportunities for almost the entire 18-49 spectrum. Now they just need to have Ealy take his shirt off next week and they can not only pull in the female audience who are heavy on social media and enjoy Pinteresting but also the market of young, black females who are the next rising metric of audience analysis and reaction.

Or it could be some other reason. biggrin.gif

I thought the same thing :) Sex sells and from the previews for the second episode they were sure trying to push the sex.....

I haven't seen the episode yet, but let's face it... If the technology is ever developed to make realistic, fully animatronic androids, the first and greatest market will be sexbots. Count on it. Bet your life on it.

Just put a motor in a Real Doll and you are on your way.

Of course the issue here isn't that it's inevitable more that it's the best story Fox or the creators can come up with for the second episode.

But, technically it was their 5th episode.

I've now seen both episodes. Verdict: Michael Ealy (Dorian) is clearly the master thespian of the troupe. Karl Urban (Kennix) is crusty but honorable. Lily Taylor (the Captain) is milquetoast. Minka Kelly (Det. Stahl) is what she always is, a beautiful mannequin. Mackenzie Crook (Lom) is the geeky nerd with no social skills. Michael Irby (Det. Paul) is the antogonist/foil cop.

That about covers the regulars. All stereotypes out of central casting. Pedestrian writing. Ealy & Urban do have good chemistry, and Kelly is nice to look at. But if this is just another cop procedural, and that's what it's looking like - and not a particularly well-written one either, then even the sci-fi tropes and vfx won't be enough to keep me around. We'll give it a couple more shots and see where it goes.

So they had potentially three others to run with but we still got sexy sexbots.

Or possibly the three skipped episodes were not "in the can" yet. I hate to think that mrvideo could be right, but he might be.

Which I mentioned earlier because Alan Sepinwall was told that was the case. wink.gif

But who knows the minds of Fox executives? We will only know the truth when Fox execs tell us or the missing episodes turn out to be either VFX mindblowers or have too much thinkiness.
Love this show despite it being a cop procedural. It's vision of the future reminds me of Judge Dredd (the comics not the movies). In fact the sexbot episode reminds me of a story where singing plants (with human like heads) were contraband because they used human tissue.
This also reminds me of the Ghost in the shell stand alone complex universe.
But the team can't hold a candle to section 9.

Hope there is a deeper plot like the laughing man story which will take the whole season to solve.

There you go, if they want to make the show's world appear more futuristic, they can replace all the cars with Tachikoma. biggrin.gif
