TV tuner card recommendations

I have an existing HTPC running Openelec. I also have a Channel Master CM-7000PAL DVR. The CM-7000PAL is starting to give me trouble, and I am thinking about installing a TV tuner card in my HTPC. I am in the USA and do not have cable. All my TV is OTA. I have seen two cards being recommended the AVerMedia A188 Duet and the Hauppage HVR-2250. I checked the Openelec wiki for hardware compatibility and neither card is listed. Can some one with experience with either of these cards and Openelec chime in? Also any other recommendations?

Its getting to look like that is the only alternative. Most if not all of the other tuners listed are European and/or cable.

Looks like the entire list is european cards.

The three already mentioned in this thread are probably the most common ones used in the US. Maybe ATI cards as well.

I'd dig into the Openelec threads here to find out more about compatibility. It would surprise me if none of those worked.

It looks like the AVerMedia card is now obsolete. According to TVLinux.org the Hauppauge HVR-2250 has drivers in the later versions of the Linux kernel. So right now I am trying to acquire either a HDHR3-US or a HVR-2250 at a good price.

Go with the HDHR.
