Today I was scrolling throw my local craigslist, and I found 2 18' bass scoops for sale, together I can get them for $300. He replaced the woofers with 2 new RCF 800w new ones. But, the cabinets are not in the best condition. I want to use these in my home, and use it for future party's I might throw. I am wondering if this would be a good deal?

Scoops are terribly obsolete. For HT subs they're at least an octave shy of how low they need to go. If run as full range music only bass bins they suffer from a major response dip in the midbass, where the front and rear waves meet 180 degrees out of phase. They can go pretty loud, but they don't sound all that good, which is why they long ago stopped making them. Plus you'd need something with them to cover above 800Hz.

Thanks, and I know I would need mids/highs. But, should I get them?
