Super Noob needs help choosing LCD

1. Budget
maximum $1400 including taxes

2. Seating Distance
7-10 feet

3. Size/placement limitations
50" or 55"

4. Uses and sources
cable (mix of HD and SD), sports events,blu rays from htpc (must be able to handle 1080p/24 properly without judder/problems)

5. Room lighting
In basement, lighting not really a problem. Some pot lights on sometimes, mostly dark.

I'm thinking I need a 120hz for proper blu ray playback correct, 60hz won't work?

IMO, think you should save a little more and a buy Plasma.....

i bought a plasma and returned it. want an lcd.

I posted in the "what lcd should i buy" thread a few days ago and didn't get a reponse thats why i made a seperate thread. maybe i need to make a post in each of tv's threads above.
