This is one of the games that made it easier to decide between the Xbox One and PS4. It's one of the games I have missed the most since I got rid of my PS3 because MLB2K always sucked. I'll be honest though, I wish they were dropping the PS3 version so they could focus on the PS4. Never expected that to happen, just wishful thinking.

Here is my 2 cents on The Show:

I'm a very casual baseball fan where I don't follow my home team or the sport at all during the regular season.I only pay attention now when the World Series is being played. In fact when it comes to the sport of baseball in general I enjoy watching the Little League World Series more than the MLB regualr season.

But for some reason The Show always manages to keep me interested where I end up buying it each year. The game presentation always shines and the game modes especially with Franchise mode, Road To The Show, and HR Derby always are worth playing where I spend a lot time playing each mode for months.

Baseball can be really amazing on next gen, because it's all about the pitcher batter duel, and if you include the catcher and umpire, it's basically 4 people on the screen. They can have crazy, crazy detail with just 4 guys on the screen for 70 percent of the game.

I loved MLB The Show when I had a PS3 five years ago, can't wait to finally be able to play it again. The little bit in the teaser looks incredible, player models look amazing. Here is a screenshot comparison of the green monster between the PS3 and PS4 posted on operationsports.com

We know how much time and effort our fans put into their Seasons, Franchises, and Road To The Show players. So beginning with MLB 14 The Show, you can now carry over your saves to future versions of MLB The Show. MLB 14 The Show lays the foundation for year-to-year saves, meaning you never have to worry about starting your Franchise or Road to the Show seasons over!

Thanks to the power of PS4, MLB 14 The Show is going to be the most beautiful baseball product we’ve ever created.

For some of you, full 9-inning baseball games may be too long for your liking, so we’ve created an all-new Quick Counts option, which utilizes generated pitch counts allowing gamers to play through full games faster than ever. Realistic statistics in this shortened gameplay experience have not been compromised. Users will now be able to play a full 9 inning game in less than 30 minutes, essentially cutting traditional game times in half.

We think Road To The Show is the deepest, most realistic single-player experience in sports video games, and we’re making it even better. A few of the new features include a new advancement system, new intuitive player creation process, and all new pre-draft prospect showcase.

And finally, what makes baseball great are those “big moments.” The power of PS4 will allow gamers to share those moments using the new “share feature” by capturing and publishing their most thrilling baseball moments, from hitting a game-winning grand slam, to picking off a runner at first for a crucial win in a World Series game.

The feature in bold is amazing and something every sports game will have to match in future. Makes buying yearly sports games less of a hassle knowing that you'll be able to just continue where you left off and with whatever new features they are adding that year.

I can't wait to play this game!

I like the first image more... even though it's not realistic, it actually has the Jays being competitive.

I'm thinking this will be my first sports game on PS4.

With its graphical splendor lighting up your retinas, it’d be easy to miss all the refinements being packed into this year’s version of MLB ’14: The Show on PS4. But it would be a shame if you did, because the small handful of new features we’ve seen so far look really promising, especially if you’re a big baseball fan with a small window of free time to swing lumber with.

So. Many. Hairs.

First up is Quick Counts, which is designed to significantly shorten at-bat times. Using pitching and batting data from the last few years, the first three pitches of every at-bat are simulated, so you take over at a key point late in the count. The folks at San Diego Studio insist this isn’t an arcade easy mode though, just a way to get straight to the pivotal moments of every pitcher/batter duel. While it does apparently affect the occurrences of Ks and walks, the resulting scores have remained in-line with real-world norms.

TV-style presentation has been a real strong point for the franchise over the last few years, but some subtle tweaking has been done here too. Lots of new conversation points have been added to the already-stellar commentary, but in those rare instances where you get dead air, the camera jumps right back to gameplay instead of lingering. The cherry on top is the new Player Lock, which allows you to assume control of a single ballplayer, and play only the plays they take part in a la Road to the Show, except you can do it any mode. All this stuff is optional of course, so you can still settle in for the fully authentic experience The Show usually delivers if you’d like, but it’s nice to know that if life is only affording you 15 minutes to play, you can still get a full game in.

The grassiest grass.

These are but a few of around 50 new features and refinements you’ll see in both the PS3 and PS4 versions of MLB ‘14. Another sweet addition that fans have been clamoring for is the ability to transfer save data from year to year. While last year’s data won’t import into this year’s game, everything you achieve this time around will stay with you going forward, even if you switch from PS3 to PS4. WHat’s also impressive, is that unlike some other sports franchises, the inaugural year on a new system won’t mean taking a huge step back in content. The PS4 version of MLB ‘14 the show will have complete, 100% feature parity with its PS3 counterpart, so you’ll get the very same comprehensive baseball sim that you’ve come to expect.

Except a lot prettier. One look at these screenshots should be all the convincing you need. Every single stadium has been rebuilt from the ground up, and so has the entire lighting engine. Gone are the days of generic hair decals; some players feature thousands of individually modeled hairs. Even the crowd has seen a huge boost in detail. Each crowd member has a higher poly count than the actual players in the PS3 version, and with all that extra RAM, they’ve pushed the number of different faces from 48 to 300. By next year, they’ll have added another zero to the end of that figure. The days of creepy families of octuplets watching as you swing for the fences are numbered.

Check the reflections in Pedroia's shades.

Even with all the eye candy, San Diego Studio is still targeting native 1080P at 60fps. The dev team is still optimizing so that could change, but they feel confident they can hit it by launch day, which will be April 1st for the PS3 version, followed by a May release on PS4. Be sure to check back for more info about MLB ‘14: The Show’s new features in the coming months

So what is this "In game currency" about through Gamestop? Will it be something like money given for different uniforms, hats, etc?

Most likely its to purchase training points for Road to the Show mode.
