HSU VTF3-MK or VTF2-MKF ?

I just ordered the hsu vt2 mk4, but I am curious if I should switch to the VT 3, my room is 15x18, I am more music oriented but some ht, would the vt3 be a better solution, or would the vt 2 suffics, thanks

It depends on how loud you like it. The VTF3 digs deeper and gets a bit louder. If you really like to blaze the sub or if you want stronger subsonic bass, go for the VTF3. If you don't need crazy loud, just stay with the VTF2.

The VTF-2 Mk-4 hits pretty low and loud. I personally would hold out and buy a second VTF-2. I have dual eD a2-300's (equal in power and depth to the VTF-2's). I am about to go to quad eD a2-300's. Personally, I think multiple midrange level subs are plenty for mid size rooms. biggrin.gif

The VTF-2 should be plenty for that room unless you feel you need more output.

I agree and I also prefer the downfiring design. This sub would make a great end table plcaed nearfield.

Definitely prefer down firing as well. Especially with two little kids runnin around. smile.gif

Would a HSU VTF3-MK4 or two massage my face (pressurized bass)??

If you put your face right in front of the woofer, yes.

I've always liked the sub as an end table idea. Add a glass or granite top and voila! Probably the best design would be the dual-opposed driver which eliminates vibration. I don't necessarily think a side-firing (VTF-3) or a down-firing sub (VTF-2) offer big advantages worth considering for this implementation.

I often see the recommendation or criteria to go with a down-firing driver due to kiddos in the house. It sounds reasonable, but consider that the other five or so speakers in the room are not down-firing and I think the ports are possibly a much bigger invitation. Unless those are also facing downward, I don't see an advantage near-field. Especially if they aren't covered by a grill.
