LennartzHT Home Theater List: ALMOST COMPLETE!!!

Salutations one and all,

After months of deliberation, I have successfully narrowed my audio/video playing field down to the semi, semi, semi finalists. Realistically, I am providing my list with a certainty of approximately 93.5769%. tongue.gif

Please review: Take a look at my components and comment on what you like and what you think needs more work.

What Is Missing?: Did I forget a piece? Is there something optional that may further enhance my listening/viewing experience?

Thanks for everyone's help on this 10 month dance. I really appreciate it!

~Matthew

Well, I have to say I like the choice of speakers... wink.gif

But what are the Vanquish speakers for? If you're using the Ethos and Stage for the LCR, and you show in-ceilings for the surrounds...

Why not the excellent Oppo 103/105 for Blu-ray? Cheaper, too.

Save your money on cables - get most everything from Monoprice, perhaps a Blue Jeans cable for the 25' HDMI run.

Hello and thank you for responding jautor!

I am using the Martin Logan Vanquish speakers as my surrounds and rears, the Ethos for my front left/right and the Stage X for my center. The layout of my room is such that in-wall will not work and I do not like rear floor standing speakers. They just don't look good to me. Luckily, I had an opportunity to audition the configuration I am going with and it sounds UNBELIEVABLE!

Regarding going with the Oppo. I originally planned on the Oppo BDP - 103D; however, my dealer talked me into the much more expensive Cambridge by offering it for the same price ($599.99)! The Cambridge usually costs about $1,200. He also discounted the Martin Logan Descent i by $2,000 if I purchased that over the SVS PB13. I agreed. All the generosity made me skeptical so I checked them out on the BBB website: they checked out.

Regarding wires, I agree to a point that wire is wire is wire is wire; I just have not updated my materials list to reflect the Redmeres.

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Ah, ok, you confused me with your picture, which shows the ML Edge, not the Vanquish, and I forgot the names...

Yeah, Vanquish for surrounds is probably as good as you're going to find for in-ceiling applications.

If you're running cables to the projector (is the drywall up?), make sure to run 2-3 cat6 cables along with any HDMI. If you're going to use Redmere, double check that they're being installed in the correct direction (they won't work backwards).

Jautor,

Good information. Sorry for the pic confusion. I was in a bit of hurry to post! smile.gif

Tell me about your home theater. Is it ML?

Jautor,

What can I say besides, "spectacular". I know you a little better now just through the flavor of your room.

Thanks for sharing this with me. I really appreciate it.

My experience this weekend would say that it WOULDN'T be an Onkyo / Integra... Denon, Marantz, Pioneer. I assume your dealer carries something besides Onkyo?

He carries Classe, Rotel, Sony but says he can get any brand I might want,
