Klipsch Subwoofer 6?

Hello,

I was just given a Klipsch "Sub 6". I have tried looking this up, but can't find much about it. I don't have an amp to power it but am looking for one. Is this a good woofer? I'm thinking about on getting the Denon AVR X1000. Would this be a good buy?

A quick Google for "Klipsch sub 6" says it has a 6.5" driver and an 80W (RMS?) amp. It might be a good woofer, but IMO it's not much of a subwoofer.

If it has the features you want/need and it fits your budget, yes.

Good subs for HT go down to at least 30Hz. Six inch drivers don't, at least not with enough output to be heard more a few feet away. Real HT subs are loaded with at least ten inch drivers.

Thanks for the info, understanding now. So, would this thing not sound good at all? I was going to buy a receiver for this thing but I guess not no more... or should I buy it anyways and just use it for the time being? My bedroom is quite small 12x12.

It won't go very low or very loud, so I wouldn't bother with it. It's intent isn't as a real HT sub, it's made to add a measure of bass to very small mains that only go down to 160Hz or so.

Are you aware that you'll need main speakers as well? And, AFAIK, the Sub 6 is powered.

They came with speakers as well... It looks like it was the whole package from the HD300 they used to offer.

Appreciate it, however, I'm saving up for the HSU

Yes, I just picked up HSU VTF-15 and love it!

Now need to sell Klipsch to offset huge cost
