Usually sound completely bypasses the projector. However the headphone jack could drive a home audio system via one of its aux inputs.

You can NOT get 5.1 from a headphone jack without matrixing.

Do you not have a sound system? What video source are you using to feed the projector?

If using a "headphone" output, you'll be limited to Dolby Pro-logic for "surround sound".

EDIT:
You may be able to run an optical (Toslink) cable from the the PS3 directly to the HTS for Dolby Digital.

Well, according to the link for your sound system, it has one HDMI in connection - you would hook your PS3 via HDMI to your sound system and HDMI out from your sound system to your projector. No need to use the headphone jack.

Well, take a better look at the specs. No HDMI in or out on the HT-C330. wink.gif

HDMI Out No
Composite Output Yes
Component Output Yes
SCART Out No
HDMI Input 0

Or, if the projector has component in and the OP has the multi out cables for the PS3......

Try the optical cable as suggested.

Yes I know! That's why I suggested in post #7 to run the optical directly from the PS3 to the audio system for Dolby Digital!

If you decide to use the analog audio output from the projector to the audio system, you need a "stereo" adapter or cable similar to this:
