You guys need to see Finding Nemo 3d on this pj. It is absolutely stunning and felt like I was under water all the time with great depth and brilliant colors. Surprised to see the Sony 3d glasses did not dim the image at all unless you adjuster the settings in the 3d menu within the pj.

I LOVE Finding Nemo! Probably seen it a hundred times, no joke. But I have yet to watch the remastered 3D Blu-ray release. It's definitely getting ordered soon. smile.gif

I was at my dealers place today and they have some 55s private message and I will provide you the name. I'm not sure about forum rules.

Is this normal? Any way to correct it? If I zoom out and don't use the lens shift, it doesn't have the 'sag' to the right. I don't see any other parts of the screen that have this 'issue'

Ouch! I have been put on hold with a possible arrival date of next Tuesday or Wednesday. This 'delay' thingie is a first for me and I do hope ExclusiveTVs is a real & legit operation. Well as my uncle use to say "sometimes you pays your money & takes your chances". Bummer...mad.gif

Dude- I hate to say this, but you should run a search on that retailer.

Not listed as an authorized dealer, so Sony may not honor the warranty.http://store.sony.com/-cms-page.sony.authorized.dealer.list#aThroughE

So is anyone else going 2.35 w/ this projector? Is it worth it? Or should I do 115" 16:9? if I do 2.35, there's the cost of the anamorphic lens ($2K), plus the lumagen (another 2k?)

I'm projecting on a 120" 2.35 Carada screen, using the zoom method. I have black velvet mounted above and below the screen to capture stray light, but it's not absolutely necessary. You definitely don't need an A-lens to enjoy 2.35 with the HW55. My 16:9 image is 96" diagonal, which is perfect from 12 feet away (30 degree viewing angle). Changing the zoom manually is the only real downside to CIH without an A-lens.

So, I was just looking at the JVC RS57U thread. Some of those guys go to great lengths during their initial setup and calibration. I'm a complete newby as far as calibration goes, and from the reviews the color accuracy is very good OOTB. My throw distance to the 100" diagonal 16:9 screen is going to be ~12.5'. After getting it mounted, any suggstions on how to get it set up to deliver the best picture? I'll read the manual and Art's review again, but some of the stuff on that JVC thread is bewildering.

Put it in "reference" mode for best setting out of the box and go from there to your likings.

Contrast is much too high in some modes out of the box. Any setup disc will have a pattern for adjusting contrast.

What do you recommend? I'm a noob in calibration and just want a decent picture for my 50. Disney WOW disc?

Ditto on the poster who recommended Finding Nemo for a 3D experience. It was the most satisfying of 3D movies to my eyes.

As for a calibration disk, I use the AVS disk which is available as a free download. I do have a Blu-ray burner, so I burnt it as a Blu-Ray. I believe you may be able to use a regular DVD writable disc that will work with your Blu Ray player.

I finally have my projector hung and room painted so today I was going to put up the screen. I put the screen together and it wasn't that bad. Go to mount the brackets on the wall and looked at the instructions which said ... Wait for it! Screws not included! As much money as I paid for the screen where are the damn screws! FML headed to Home Depot in the morning!

None of the screen companies furnish screws. This is because of a couple reasons:

1. The screen company does not know what you are mounting to.
2. If they furnished screws and they happen to be the wrong application for you and the screen falls, then the screen company could be held liable for damage and or injury.

Your wall construction could be block, brick, plaster or drywall. You could have one, two or three layers of drywall. All of these applications could require different fasteners.

I figured as much but it doesn't make for a good rant! For the record I got the screen from you guys! I worked with Craig very knowledgable trying to get everything set up before the Super Bowl

I'm running 2.35 with 55ES + Panamorph Cinevista. The V stretch / squeeze modes in the 55ES make the Lumagen not necessary. Only negative is the Sony won't do V-stretch with 3D mode. You will need a lumagen for that. For 3D movies, we just use the generic Zoom mode on the projector and seems to work very well. I'm projecting onto a 122" wide screen.

You can use the same rant with a projector mount. Same situation, same reasons. smile.gif

Maybe it's because I'm a homeowner. Or maybe it's because I worked in construction for 30 years, but I have boxes of various screws, bolts and fasteners in my garage at all times.* smile.gif

* everything except for that one size that I need...........eek.gif

Newbie question trying to set up 55es and the projector is not connecting to the devices. We can see the menu and adjust the ratio aspects . Does the device or HDMI settings have to be adjusted. We have tried to connect it straight to my Oppo and then through my integra. PLEASE HELP!

Go hdmi out Oppo to hdmi in receiver to hdmi out receiver to hdmi in for pj.

That should do it. I did not make any setting changes for hdmi in the pj settings. It should auto see and pass the signal unless there is an issue w your hdmi cables.

I am using Oppo 93----pioneer 1020vsx AVR to Sony 55ES via hdmi all the way through.

Give it a try and report back. What equipment are you using for audio, are you using hdmi, component or what for each item.
